Who makes an Airride trailer suspension

trailer brakes needed

I am looking for a 80 x 14 foot GN dump trailer and i found these Quality Steel built in Elkhart IN. 80 x 14 foot GN 14,000# cap ramps, D-rings, all tube construction. Total price tax and all $6,700. I am concerned about the lift cylinder, twin 4inch has no scissor lift. Does any body know anything about these trailers quality... etc.

Thank for any help

I am about to buy a trailer very similar, only I am looking at a manufacturer in Fl. , the price is a little lower , about $5400. , it has twin cylinders, one thing to check is whether is has power up and gravity down or power up and down both, depending on what you use it for it may make a difference,, don't know where you are located , but just another option,,,, there is also a manufacturer in Ohio with very good prices also. .

Something to look into is the gauge of the steel used for the box. A lot if not all of the cheaper trailers use a lot lighter steel. Sure you can carry more, but not for long.

My son and I built one and used one cyclinder. Don't need a sicssor, box pivots at rear and cyclinder at the front.

We used 14 ga . on sides and bottom,16 on the front. Cyclinder is 4"x36". We should had used a 30". This trailer box is 6'x10'x2' and built to gross 7000' He built the chassis alittle to strong 2" sq. joints every8" and 4" tube rails . We had it full of wet oak fire wood and was a little hard to get it to dump, that why we should have used a 30" cyc. We did,he mostly ,all the work and have app. $1500 in it

Duckman, where are you located?

I have an easy dumper the one that is called the ugly dump, the side taper in, it has been a great asset to my business. The man that runs a local pit I use, has told me that he has never seen one take a load the way mine does he states that when he loads it it shutter like others do.

I've owned one of these for 12 or so years... we use it all the time and it has the scissor design lift... . its rated at 14K and we've had it overloaded... we finally replaced the floor from the 14 ga material to a 11 gauge material we overlaid over the old floor...

We installed a 00 gauge welding wire from the batteries in the truck to the back and use an electric fork lift battery connector to connect it to the trailer... . the trailer has its own 12v battery but that is under the trailer and more than once we've pulled it and found the battery down... this heavy cable also quickly charges that battery if its down...

We've found that greasing the hinges 2x's a year and checking the water in the battery is about all the care the thing needs... .

If you're looking at a trailer that has dual pistons, make sure to ask them if they are using some sort of pressure regulator. Big Lug is one of the few that do it on a dual piston setup. The problem you'll run into on most dumps like this is that the weight in your bed may vary from side to side and one piston will end up having a lighter load. This scenario will cause the bed to twist or get tweaked. Big Lug is the only dual piston trailer that I would consider, most of what we sell are single scissor lifts (Big Tex, C&B, Travalong, Walton). If you're not going to do much heavy use that price is pretty cheap for a gooseneck dump. The brands I sell will easily put you in the $9k range (just for the trailer..... DH & tax extra).

I bought an appalachian GN dumper about 4 or 5 years ago payed about $5,000. Tandem 14,000lbs with the twin clyinders strecthed out to 16' long trailer weight about 4,000lbs empty. If I load 5 to 6 ton on it had a little trouble dumping if loaded to much to front. Then I discover the pump was only at 1,800psi called them they said they usually run them between 3,000 to 3,500psi. Haven't had a problem since.
