Yes. I think GMC is/has won the HP and Tq war by a large margin, but I still wouldn't want one in my garage. Sure you can up the hp and tq on the Cummins but you have to feed all that TQ through a transmission. DC doesn't seem to want to build a transmission ... ... ... ... ????

If I am not mistaking, I believe the motor (Dmax) defuels at a lower output. This is due to transmission protection.

I also believe the ratings are for the motor that comes in the Top Kick. Not sure but thats what I heard, I believe on the TDR.

Those are the ratings for the LBZ/six speed Allison combo available in the 2500/3500 trucks. It puts out 360hp @3000 rpm and 650ft/lbs of torque @1600rpm. With the Topkick trucks, you can get the 6. 6L Duramax rated for 300/520 or 300/605 in the 4500 and 5500 series. The 6500 and up gets the 7. 8L Duramax or C-7.

Check out the Truck Trend mag, they gave top honors to Dodge for pulling power despite the torque numbers of DMAX and they stated that fact.

I heard the Duramax will be running two Garrett turbos in series to help meet the emission standard in 2010. Same concept as the new Powerstroke. I wonder how much cost this adds to the diesel engine option.

Definatley enough to not go out and buy a p. o. s. ,like those mentioned. Strictly my opinion of course.

The company has switched from Ford to GM. They had a Duramax in the garage with the hood up and I stopped just in curiosity to look under the hood. I imagine there must be an engine in there some place as the dash has a fuel gauge and there appears to be a fuel tank on the truck. I asked the mechanic what is under all those wires, pipes and other gizmo's. His reply was that he thought there might be a GM and Japanese design of something but no one really knows.
