Competition Bentz Dragster sneak previewof the new Big Twins...

Truck

Tims truck is nothing but bolt on peices that work and he will tell you its nothing exotic. Everything is available to anyone to buy. Its just a correct combination. The truck is in decent shape it was one of our customers plow trucks up til 2 years ago from here in the northeast. Tim has done all the work himself. Twins, nos, motor everything but the DTT trans we supplied he installed.

Preston you buying dinner if we put come to your race!!!!!!!!!!!

Well boys, the fun is over. Tim is on his way back to NC.

Great time and the smiles and high fives when the magic 1000 was crossed was just awesome.

Dude Scott that is sweet! It's official we have entered the "Supra" era. Remember that unobtainable dream of Supras shoving out 7-1000 h. p with bolt ons ... same thing just a different inline six :-laf

Ask and yee shall receive. Thanks fellas!

Hey, think about this... How long was that pull from the time the chargers lit? My yoder meter puts it at about 2. 8 seconds. Now look at the wheel speed in the dyno graph. 78-142 MPH. I know the truck weighs more than the rollers, humor me, but can you imagine...

80 Mph on I-75, finally suckering some Vette into a run. Just for kicks you spot em a car before you spool. Down goes your right foot, then VVWHOOOP, your at a buck forty in a little over 3 seconds and the vette is hard on the brakes trying to stop so he can pick up the doors you just blew clean off!!

I'd be smiling all the way to jail. :D :D :-laf

Congrats Tim. "With great power comes great responsibility. "

This is great to hear. I get tired of all the bs about electronic gurus making custom 4 stage one off systems and how everything has to be so technical. 1020 to the ground, not an engine dyno, and in a street truck, now thats what I am talking about!

Engine tuning is a technical process.

Have you ever had an engine on an engine dyno?

Chassis dynos are pretty hillbilly compared to engine dynos.

The common dyno correction factors give totally bogus results when applied to boosted engines here at high altitude. We have one dyno operator that gives his customers dyno corrected hp numbers with a correction factor of 1. 22 - 1. 25.

When I looked into it, it appears he is in good faith using the SAE J1349 correction (or something very close to it, provided by the dyno manufacturer). But all the serious players up here know the numbers are silly. Another Dyno operation applies a flat 1. 15 correction with no atmospheric correction applied.

As a result you can get stock cars that correct to higher than manufactures rated hp at sea level. Source

These are chassis dynos.

Putting in flat correction standards shows total ignorance of what correction standards are all about. This seems to happen fairly often on chassis dynos for some reason. The correction is intended to correct brake hp numbers to what the hp would be in a standard weather condition. SAE J 607 is commonly used, it corrects to 29. 92", 60F, and 0% humidity. Here is >>SAE J 1349 << The actual weather conditions are input to the dyno DAQ before the dyno test, the dyno DAQ corrects the brake numbers on the fly during the pull. You can't enter a correction factor, just the weather conditions. On my dyno the inlet air temp is a real time input to the dyno DAQ. That is the one reading that has the potential of changing during the pull.

From what I read using a chassis dyno vs an engine dyno is like going to a medicine man vs the hospital.

Your opinion does not surprise me, seeing as you OWN AN ENGINE DYNO!! Regardless, the guy's making great power and he's getting it to the ground. Pat him on the back and start your own thread about dynos.

... you may even get some business if you go about it right.

Chassis dynos would be good to use - after an engine dyno test. Maybe you could figure out your driveline loss - if you could believe the chassis dyno numbers.

Hey, you guys could not have read the link before you replied, read it, it is more than just me owning an engine dyno.

He is no doubt making great power and getting it to the ground.

I was responding to the dig against engine dynos, which also has the appearance of being a dig against COMP461s recent engine dyno test.

The fact of the matter is that nearly 100% of high end engine development is done on engine dynos, not chassis dynos. So the snarkey comment about engine dynos was totally out of place and besides not pertaining to this thread. With a mind set like that I'd never see him as a customer anyway.

Engine dynos have their place. . I feel a chassis dyno is a much better representation of how an engine will respond with the driveline in function. Most of us here will agree that power to the wheels is more impressive than on a stand. It's the final result. Yes, I've owned one as well. .

Congrats on the over 1,000 HP mark. .

Alright boys, we made it home, what a day, 818 off the trailer, and then, oh and then,David you better keep him off that thing for a few days at least, great bunch of guys with a lot of knowledge, the Garmon clan,I really do appreciate the time today tuning, learned more in 5 hours than all last year, anybody reading this spend some time on the dyno, its a hell of alot cheaper than tearing it up at the track trying to learn,

I think now that I've got it I'll just put it on jack stands and look at it, don't have time to race,

nah, Thursday, Rockingham NC,the 1st 9 second 6000lb pass on ET streets Oo.

Good job on a good number. What time on Thurs are you going to run?? Are you going to be driving the truck up there since it's a daily driver?? Just curious.....

nobody ever mentioned (a daily driver) is this Gus? just talked with ed last night about you, he was very impressed

if this is you

Hey Tim,

Man a huge congrats to you and all involved in making that number happen. I'm impressed and can't wait to see it run. Again, nice work.

I'm sorry, but with that attitude, you've lost me as a customer.

Oh wait... . I also run the MNTDR..... SO as far as our group... I personaly won't be sending or setting up anything for your direction.

The other problem is..... I'm not pulling my engine every time I want to know what kind of improvements I've made. A Chassis dyno is PERFECT for me..... as well as 90% of the guys on this board.

Plus, what does it cost to run on your dyno? The dyno day's I've set up around here have been $50 for 2 back to back pulls. Drive in, run it, drive home.

Lets see Engine dyno, Remove engine, Spend roughly 10 hours to pull, 4-6 gallons of coolant, recover and recharge the A/C, Replace the O-rings for the condenser... ... . etc etc etc.

Just MY honest opinion.

Great job to ALL the guys breaking the 900 and 1000hp marks!

Josh

Tim, glad you guys made it home ok and thanks for the kind words.

I'm calling you tomorrow about the "Thursday" comment. :-laf

Morse, the 818 was first pull diesel only. Then a little more aggressive on the second pull for 823. Then a shot for 956hp. One pump change, one pill change, and 1020. Final pull on diesel only to record pump change was 832.

Tim came in the door today with a well tuned, good running engine. Oo.

1020 to the wheels - simply awesome!!

Man - that truck brings back a lot of memories. Back when Brian S. owned it... I did the KDP on it... what a pain. It had a hydraulic pump for the plow mounted under the hood and it was leaker (or rustproofer!). :-laf

I remember driving past the truck on my way to/from college - it sat in the Fairbanks Auto Body (Fitchburg, MA) used car lot for a few weeks... and then Brian bought it.
