2007.5 ram 3500 6.7 aisin auto cab and chassis
local dodge dealer installed new ecm and flashed
now exhaust brake only works in tow haul and they are telling me that is just the way it is because of the new flash. Does any one know if this is true or just dealer B.S.?

I'm not a ram mechanic and definitely don't know much about the C&C trucks but I've gotta say that got my BS o' meter spiking in the red!
I saw a post this week about a truck with the exhaust brake not working. I suggested he get it flashed but the mech checked and said the exhaust brake was simply turned off in the programming. He turned it on and all is well.
Strange stuff going on at the Dodge dealers lately...

I agree xcc rider they also told me I had an exhaust leak because I had a ticking noise after they pulled the valve cover to get injector numbers to flash new ecm. I brought it home. No exhaust leak I adjusted the valves and solved that problem needless to say I will never take my truck back to that dealer again

I just had a new ECM installed in my 2007.5 also. On my way home I turned the exhaust brake on and it didn't work like yours. Also my manual high idle didn't work. By that time the service dept was closed. I took it in this morning and the service writer tried to tell me since it had a programmer on it (with old ECM) that sometimes they don't work. I told him both worked great until they put in the new ECM. (I haven't reinstalled the programmer yet-waiting to make sure all is well). He said Oh, ok. Also apparently they put in a wrong injector code number for #1 injector as it threw a code (which was there with check engine light on when I left dealer). They are closed for the day now and I haven't heard anything from them. This is a dealer I hate to use but the nearest dealer I trust is 40 miles away and towing is prohibitive around here.

I'll join the club, got stranded 400 miles from home with a bad ECM. The local dealer replaced it and told me to come get the truck. I came to get the truck and it had two of the injector codes entered incorrectly so I pulled the valve cover for them and read the injectors correctly to solve the check engine light problem. However, I now have no exhaust brake. I will test my high idle and exhaust brake with tow haul tomorrow. Since i'm headed home, I'll probably have to pay for my local dealer to fix the programming issues if that's what the issue is.Keep me updated if there's any new info.

I reinstalled all the deletes (so those codes wouldn't show up as they had heartburn over it) and took it back to the dealer. The dealer had to redo the injector code. They had typed in a wrong number. As far as exhaust brake and high idle, they had to "turn them on" in the program. They discovered it isn't automatically turned on in the program when reloaded to the new ECM. All is well now. Took them only a few minutes to turn the 2 on. Of course longer to pull valve cover and reread the code. The tech had written it down correct, just mistyped it.
We have taken it on a trip with our 15K pound 5th wheel and it ran good except mileage was down from 11 to 9. My exhaust brake works in either mode, std or tow-haul. I have mine wired, thru a 2 amp fuse, so that it comes anytime I start. I don't have to push a button to turn it on.

Thanks for the reply. I'll get mine taken in later this week and hopefully it'll just be a matter of the dealer getting it turned back on.

I too have mine hooked up so that it will always come on with the switch of my key. Very nice feature to have!

Just got a call from the dealer. They said they just wanted to let me know that it was going to be $110 for them to "look into" getting the EB setting changed and they were very skeptical that it was even a setting within the ECM in the first place. They said they will have to charge me whether they find the setting or not...

Any advise on where they should look to find the setting? Or is there a specific name that the setting has?

Update: local dealer found the setting and the exhaust brake is back up and running. Now, I'll try and get the original dealer installer to pay for the $120 bill that should have been avoided in the first place! thanks to everyone for the help
