New engine break in

@013 with 2300 so far,when is the motor considered broke in? 8-10,000 is my guess.

After towing your trailer for a trip! Break in is a lot less traumatic than it was years ago. Some easy driving, then towing should do it. It is as much for the drivetrain as anything.

Thanks Joe,hoping for a little better mileage (like my 03) after all is broke in. about 15 dry,12-13 loaded.

Ram manual states 6000 miles is typical break-in period.

15 solo in town is reasonable; should be more like 18-19 at steady speed on the highway.

I did a agressive break in on my 13, put 200 miles on it without the trailer then the next 9500 miles towing the trailer in the hills of the west. This truck started to loosen up and gain HP and fuel at about 7000 miles.

I hope my truck will do the same thing,I am so amazed at how smooth and quiet these trucks are.
