H.O. with auto?

My truck is too quiet!!!

Has anybody got the inside track on the new diesel planned for our competion at the end of 2002. According to someone on the ford-diesel website it's a 6. 0 liter to replace the 7. 3! There goes the theory no replacement for displacement. Looking forward to the competition!

OK, let me guess how this will go "most powerful diesel yet" How about, " The greatest thing about it is how light it is with the all new aluminum heads" In all seriousness though I think the Powerstroke will be hard to top for the Blue Oval guys. But like ya' said we'll be lookin' forward to the competition.

If its still built by International it will be a Steaming Pile of Sh*T. At my workplace we have 4 INT trucks. One has to hit the shop a month almost. Bad thing is its always one of the two 2000 Model trucks what we have the 95 sees nothing but oil changes. Dropped one off with a dead hole tonight actualy. I am looking fwd to the comp but not worried about it at all #ad

The new "PSD II" will be out pretty soon. It's going to be a camless 6. 0L V8, and will be available in all the Super Duty trucks and E-Series vans. The camless design may give it an edge, in the form of variable valve timing... Also, a 4. 5L V6 version of the same engine will be available in the F150, F250, and Expedition. Things are going to get very interesting, expecially in my line of work. #ad

The camless version of the new 6. 0 will not be out until 2007. The first versions of the new 6. 0 will NOT be camless. It does not have aluminum heads either. Preliminary power figures are 310/550. It will be mated to an all new 5 speed auto or the 6 speed manual. It arrives in 2003. The 4. 5 will be available in the Expedition first and then in the F150's. This the the combo the competition needs an answer for. There will be a huge demand for a half ton diesel. It is rated at 235/375... . CJ

Valve timing and camshaft specs aren't so important on a forced induction motor are they?? Thats just what I have understood. THe 1/2 ton diesel is a great idea IMO

Why not put the MB (5 cylinder, I believe) diesel in the Ram 1500 and leave the Cummins in the 2500 and 3500?

There's an engineer from Int'l Truck & Engine I met on another site that frequents FD. COM. He has confirmed to me what COBRAJET has said. 4. 5L V-6 first in late 2002, 6. 0L V-8 in 2003, and Camless engine in MAYBE 2007. No Alum. heads, still HEUI, more RPM, intercooled & wastegated, and lighter. Supposedly a VERY clean running engine. #ad

The camless design will be implemented w/ pnuematically operated style valves which will enable variable timing. It will raise the bar for torque & HP spread while getting better mpg. Expect to see "tuned" intake tracts on all cylinders & a host of other F1 trickery. I've already read some tech articles that these turbo charged motors will benefit just as well as non. Very very exciting future for diesels.

From what I read at ford-diesel.com the new 6. 0 liter powerjoke will have to really rev to get the hp and torque numbers. Lot of 7. 3 powerjoke guys are NOT looking forward to the smaller motor.

Very contrary to the concept of low end torque.

The new 6. 0 has better torque and HP numbers through out the entire power band. You don't remain number one by going backwards. . . CJ
