New Fass Hard Start Fix.......

Could you answer a question I have posted on the NW BOMBers BB? It was the same thread started in early June. My question pertains to the replacement motors.

Yup, bought from Rip and installed by Barnes Diesel in LaGrande. -first one they'd ever seen. Hey Dan I did the hook up to power window thing and still having hard start-any other suggestions?

Twist someones arm to mess with a Smarty... . that will update your computer. See if that helps. You might have a VP that is starting to show its bad side. Scan for codes... . but usally the VP-44's with the hard start issues wont pop a MIL or code. From my experience at least... .

Dan, I just started my truck this morning (first start of the day is the only time it starts hard) and pulled the power connection for the FASS first-and it started right up-sounded kind of weak though. So it sounds like my VP is on it's way out.

Being a owner of a 2001 Dodge, it pains me even to suggest a VP might be going out. BUT due to the unpredictable record of these "Wonderful" pumps... . you can not take the possibility out of the equation. BUT do some heavy research before you condemn your pump. Check for any air leaks…. . that might be more of an issue than anything…. being that its only in the morning after it sits. Try the VP-44 return check valve. 5 min install. AND had been known to cause an issue like you are having. Check the IP fitting that comes with the FASS. It could be holding pressure, but sucking air. Hope some of these suggestions help……

Hey Dan, first of all thanks for all the replys and ideas. I finally looked back at the install pictures that came with my FASS and realized I hooked up the wrong red wire to the window fuse. :-laf boy do I feel silly, but I redid my wiring yesterday and truck started so quick this morning it scared me-couldn't pull my hand back quick enough. We'll see how it goes from here. The cost of a little embarrasment is definitley cheaper than a new VP.

We have been using the Smarty to fix these issues and works every time for us. We sell Smarty but have one set aside to use to help those in need. Dan the 150/200@50psi is soooo cool on our 3rd gen. trucks. The power blink out we were getting is gone and power is much better. That product is the perfect fit with our modified CP3 pumps. Thanks!
