Back to the 6.0s...

Reading more on Diesel-stop tonight it appears there are other problems cropping up: block casting porosity. What is happening is the block casting in some spots is porous enough that fluids actually seep through the material. . coolant into the oil, external oil leaks, etc. It appears there have been a number of these already according to one thread. Sounds like they've gone with very thin-wall castings and are having QC issues.



Another strange incident, a guy lost power on cylinder number 7. Turns out a rocker arm or rocker arm keeper on that cylinder broke. The rockers are retained in the ball/stud fashion (how cheap is that???) and to replace it the bolt holding it down is also a head bolt. With removal of it Ford considers the head/gasket compromised and the ENTIRE head must be removed so the gasket can be replaced



The 6. 0 is not coming across as a very bulletproof motor in the early going.

I had posted about that earlier in the thread. I haven't followed the issue for about a week. The last I heard they were not going to be able to get the parts to fix the engine till feb. I don't know maybe they have found a remedy since that. It would truly suck to have a new truck and not be able to drive it.



I had a friend that had bought a new 96 chevy diesel that she couldn't keep running. After the third trip to the dealer she told them to keep it till they absolutely fixed the problem. In the meanwhile she drove a loaner car. They ended up keeping her truck for a month. I don't think I would have taken it as well as these people are.
