New Ford Diesel- Detroit Auto Show

Went to the Detroit Auto Show yesterday, and they had the new 6. 0 Ford Diesel on display. The specs said 350 HP, 600 torque, stock. I am curious to see what Cummins will do to answer the Ford and D-Max? Any thoughts?

Well Bailman I tell you what I have seen. I work for Federal Mogul and FEL-PRO is one our comp. I have just come back from the FEL-PRO plant and they are doing some testing on the 3rd gen 24v we had 2 test cels going and 307hp and 550ft is what was on them. The best part was the noize,about 60-70% less.

IMHO I don't consider 60-70% noise reduction a good thing

I love the sound of my Cummins but it would do me alot of good to be quieter around my job sites starting at 5 am in the city.

TALK ABOUT THE POWER

If you want to talk real power ther was all so a N11 cummings in one of the test cels with twin turbo's. The test cells are rated for 3000ft lb and the old N11 twisted off the shaft at 2683 and she was craving some moor. How would you like to have that under your hood?????

I dont care if the ford had 500hp/1000lbft its still a ford, And I will still laugh at you when I pass it towing up the hill!! I brother just bought a powerjoke(for the crew cab). I dont feel any difference even though his is supposed to have more power. I think that it is just ford trying to boost numbers.

New Engine camless???

Thought I read somewhere that the 2nd Gen Powerstoke was also suppose to be a cam-less engine. Any truth to this???

The new G2 is not camless. There is talk/rumor that it will be in 2007. The engine is in the development state. Mules have run. F1 is suppose to have a camless version next year or so. They have already got rid of the valve spring assembly with pneumatic actuators, but a camless version is yet to come... CJ

Cumminpwr11 well sir I have looked and drove a 1/2 ton but not a 3/4 or 1 ton as of yet. The back seat has moor room for shur I did not see much diff in the front!!!!
