Not real sure about the new tailgate from Ram.....

Look at this recovery unit / wrecker!!!

That's interesting, I wonder what the plan is? Something on the order of the F-450 pickup? It appears to have the axles/tires of the 550, so maybe a slight bump in GVW/GCW.

I don’t see the point of this truck, other than Ford is feeling the pinch from the Ram 5500, and Ford had to try something. I’m interested to see if they bump up the GVW’s. We push our 550’s to the limit, and we see the results, as well as becoming I’ll handling.

Ford looking to take back some of the vocational market they've lost. It is crazy the type of Ram C&C I see with different bodies. Stuff I only used to see Fords with. Everytime I see a different truck it reminds me of the thread that was floating around for a while RE Ram/commercial bodies. I've got a few pictures but most of the time I'm either driving or don't have the phone handy.

This GM 6500 truck don’t stand a chance against Ford, from the gov fleet standpoint. The #1 aspect in considering a purchase, is support in variety of layouts, warranty, tech, and parts. In these areas nobody can compete with Ford.
If there is a FCA commercial dealer that is half interested, they may be alright, but still no chance against the blue oval monster.

We had a '72 F-600, 330 gasser, Clark wide ratio 4 spd, 6.17 rears w/no two speed, 8.25-20 rubber, 20,200 lbs GVW. She was tough, but what a complete dog.

Chassis wise, that old 600 was probably more like a true medium 650 today. This new 600 is still a pick up based C&C.

Here’s the door jamb sticker for a current F550.

It was a for-sure medium chassis. It was a tough SOB, as overloaded does not even begin to describe what we put that truck through. I could tell lots of stories, but you get the idea.

Truck Driving for Dummies....

Ford believes the new driver-assist technologies will make the truck easier to drive than a larger sibling, lowering both training and operating costs over those for a much larger vehicle.

“Finding new drivers is less imposing of a task when the truck that individual will be asked to operate is closer to what they drive on a daily basis,” Koester said.
