I'm getting a new form of Pop Up that doesn't have a way to easy eliminate them. What are these called and what can you do about them??????

SLO is it the one that reads . .
Transmits net send and Alerter service messages between clients and servers. This service is not related to Windows Messenger. If this service is stopped, Alerter messages will not be transmitted. If this service is disabled, any services that explicitly depend on it will fail to start.
Messenger . . . why messenger if I may ask. Messenger in XP I always thought was so when a program needed to be forced down the error reporting service had a way to report to the MSFT server.

Actually AdAware isn't designed to stop popups so much as it is to detect and delete "malware" from your system. It detects and removes spyware, advertising software, webpage hijacks (my personal “favorite”), etc. It can be run at startup of your PC and it will detect and remove all the bad stuff you picked-up last time you were online. AdAware is free. However I paid the extra $26. 95 for the Plus version which includes AdWatch. AdWatch prevents those bad things from getting on your PC in the first place, essentially leaving nothing for AdAware to detect and remove. You can read more detail about it at http://www.lavasoftusa.com/ .
I have a fantastic dedicated popup blocker at home. Unfortunately I’m at work right now and I can’t remember what it’s called. I have it load automatically along with AdAware when I start my PC. All I ever see is the splash screen for a few seconds as it starts, and then it hides itself in the background. I’ll try to remember to pay attention to the name of it next time it starts and I’ll post it here. One neat thing is you can set it to beep every time it blocks a popup. Kind of gratifying to hear those beeps instead of seeing piles of BS banners splashing themselves across your screen. Its like goingto the advertisers!
