Somehow a freakin telephone pole ended up in front of me yesterday, so needless to say i'm in the market for a new bumper and plastic, i want to get one of them big ***** deer killin types, but not having much luck finding the companys that make them, any help or suggestions would be great... thanks

I think that one is road armor, and another one is ranchhand. I think if you go to ebay and search for either you should come up with some kind of results.

Thanks,

Rick

I went with the Herd aluminum bumper. I got it in Billings. I figured the aluminum was a good bet given how weak the balljoints are.

My buddy has a Road Armor. It's freaking badass!!! Thing looks like it would crush an elk at 60+... Wouldn't recommend trying it though.

I have a Buckstop bumper. It is definately a well built bumper & gets lots of comments. Only problems I have with the bumper is it came with holes for the grill guard that I did not order, the powder coating is flaking off of the edges, and they sent me the wrong hardware kit. The website did not show holes in the bumper without the grill guard and there is no mention of an option to not have the holes. So now I am stuck with a bumper with un needed holes. My experience with customer service was less than excellent. It took several emails and much patience to finally get the correct hardware and hole covers. Other than that, it is a well built bumper and fit well with good instructions. Good luck with whichever bumper you decide on. Anything is better than stock.

Is ball joint strength an issue? Just wondering, I replaced my joints 2 years ago and I have a Buckstop being built for my truck. Has anyone experienced premature ball joint wear?

I don't know about the rest of you, but everyone I know with a 2nd Gen. has what I would consider "premature" ball joint wear. I mean, needing replacment before 100,000 miles. Most, includung myself needed new ones by 60-70,000 miles. I was the only on with a winch bumper, everyone else was stock. So, in my mind, as long as you keep it within reason(less than 200lbs probably) I don't think the bumper effects the ball joints signifigantly. Thats just my opinion. Though, some of those Bid A** bumpers look guady though(Road Armor). I have seen some real sweet ones in my 4 Wheeler mags, but they all seem to be home/custom made. Of course, I would rather build it myself than buy it if it has to be fabbed/welded.

I really like my RanchHand

ME TOO! I consider it an investment for preventative front end damage by a deer. I haven't had a deer come close to it yet but others around me get deer strikes all the time. Makes a good deer repellent.
