New front wheel bearings....again

Well as some of you may remember I had my front wheel bearings replaced under extended warranty at 66k. Had the tires rotated at 71k and guess what... front hub assemblys were loose again.



Took it back to dealer. They said maybe I got a bad batch of bearings so they replaced those and this time they also replaced my ball joints under warranty too.



Anyone ever had this happen?? Bad bearings from Dodge??



Not looking to bash anyone. I like this dealer so far just fine.

I have no bad parts from the stealerships but then again I dont go there for my parts. My 04 has 92k on it and I have often wondered about the front wheel bearings. The front end shop I took it to in So Cal. said that everything looks and checks out fine but I still worry about the never repack wheel bearings. The idea of FOR EVER LUBE bearings is just nuts. I dont think parts from one place to another is going to be all that different after all they are all more than likely made in China anyway. Maybe the install had something to do with it.

I hear you Adam but for now it is hard to beat free aside from the $100 deductible from the extended warranty which just paid for itself. Got almost 70k out of the first set so I'm hoping for the same with these.



Dealer encouraged me to try and get Dodge to extend the warranty further.



Now when the warranty expires and I have to do this I will most definetly look at the free spin option.

I know this isn't a Dodge, but I once had theunit wheel bearings replaced at a Ford dealer, with fectory parts. I drove the 3 miles to the interstate, to test it out. Within 1/2 mile on the interstate, the drivers side bearing BROKE. I pulled into the median, as I couldn't get to the right lane. I called the dealer and told them to come get it and fix it with better parts this time.

Generally the front hubs will start to Buzzzz, then Hummmmm, then growl, when they start to growl you have about 200-300 miles before they lockup. Turn right to left at 20 MPH if the sound you here changes pitch, you need to replace.

free spin hubs. I have the dyntrack with dynalocks and u-joints on the way for this very reason. Had the same kit on my 03. It is expensive but a good upgrade.

This is when I replaced mine. For me, it happened at just over 140k. Bought new hub assemblies through O'Rileys for $700 w/ lifetime warranty. We will see how that works out!!!:-{}

Replacing mine now at only 42k. I know another guy that has 250k on an '07 and has never replaced them. I think it's like everything else, some good, some great, and some that ain't worth a squirt.

Are you running the stock wheels and tires?

Larger tires and wheels (especially wheels with more positive offset, deeper) will only aggravate a situation (unit bearings) that is not ideal to begin with. The increased offset will apply more force to bearings that are marginal (to begin with) using the stock wheel and tire combo.

X2... . This is an unfortunate, but DEFINITE, truth !!! #@$%!

Just my experience... been running heavy 10-ply, 35" tires on H2 rims practically for the life of the truck (109,000). Had ball joints done at around 85,000 where they beat the livin hell out of the hub to get it off. Same bearings... still good.
