Just put a new one on my 04.5.(150k miles) What a huge improvement overall. I didn't realize just how bad the truck had been running for a LONG time. The symptoms that finally caused me to change it were a "cycling" of the engine, stumble from a dead stop and a random fuel rattle like sound at idle. Used the search function on the forum and found EXACT answers to all my questions. Got the new one from Geno's with the new bolts and GREAT instructions. In my case I used a 1/4 drive short ratchet with a long extension and applied slow torque and the torx stock bolts popped right loose.(Thank God, I read about stripping them out) Many thanks to the forum members that have contributed to the various threads I found in my search. In addition to solving the problems of the symptoms above the engine now runs much smoother at highway speed. It also no longer "bucks" while going downhill with the cruise on. A vibration that I was sure was the driveshaft carrier is no longer present as well. Power delivery is much improved at all RPM. Thanks again to the forum and Geno's for the good factual information.

Thanks for the write up. I've had the same symptoms for a while too, and have been contemplating replacing mine. Maybe this will get me off the fence and get it done.
