I need help ... . this is what I have done so far. Last week my starter got stuck and burned up my fuel shut off solenoid. I got on Larry B's site and ordered starter rebuild kit, fuel shut off solenoid, fuel shut off relay, and a solenoid saver diode. My problem is that after rebuilding starter and installing the fuel shut-off solenoid the motor turns over just fine but will not start. I plugged in the new relay, thinking this was the problem but it still won't start. I can get the motor started if while turning key to activate starter I have someone manually pick the plunger up on the solenoid. After doing this the truck will run just fine but if I turn it off and try to start it... the same thing happens again. Could someone please give me some suggestion on what the problem could be.

Blue wire going to driverside battery can break and or get a bad connection and cause problems. Put a new end on mine and it fixed it. Also recheck all starter connections to make sure they are all on correct.

The fuel solenoid has 2 coils, one for "pick-up' and the other to hold it up during running. It sounds like the pull up coil is malfunctioning. It could be a bad coil but more likely just isn't getting power. This will be the circuit coming from the fuel shutdown solenoid relay. If 12 volts is not present at

this circuit when the key is in the CRANK position,

check the fuel shutdown solenoid relay.

Thanks Brian, I just checked mine and sure enough the blue wire was burned in two. I really appreciate your help.

I've read the wire is actually a fuseable link(can't find the reference in the service manual though). Apparently it is supposed to act like a 60Amp fuse so you may not want to just replace it with an ordinary piece of wire.
