Took the 05 to the drags!

Can I fit 2.56" deep speakers in my front doors?

I just installed the Isspro gauges from Geno's last week and at idle with ambient temp in the 90's the egt is reading 450-500. This seem high?

Accelerating from a stop I can peg the Boost gage (30psi) and the egt goes to 1100 deg and the truck is empty. Probe is pre turbo just after the no. 3 exhaust on the top of the manifold This also seems high?

The trany temp is in the 2nd test port on the pasenger side; used an 1/8 close nipple, 1/8X1/4 reducer, 1/4 close nipple, 1/8X1/4 reducer and temp probe. Seems to be reading the under hood temp rather than trans temp, cause when I go through a rain puddle the temp drops to 100 from 160. I'm going to order the Mass Cooler line to change that. Are these no's Ok and what do I need to watch when pulling the 5er?

Thanks

when you say 450* while idleing, do you mean in gear? The auto transmission trucks seem to run a little warmer on the egt's also.

I think it was in park, but my wife left me, took my truck and grandson left me with the dumb dog and mother-in-law. Sounds like a country song. They are on a cub scout camp for a couple of days. I'll verify it when they get back.

Thanks,

My 03 idles at about 350 (Di/Pricol Gauges). I won't shut mine down with EGT higher than 400. That's just me. Also bear in mind, we have different motors. My probe is between #4 & #5 cyls. If anything, mine should register hotter than yours.

Those boost numbers sound a little high for a stock truck too. I was only hitting 23 or so lbs stock.

Are your gauges mechanical or electric? Seems like the older ISSPro's were electric... at least the old pyro's were.

I'm completely stock and routinely peak at 32 lbs then immediatly drop to 29 lbs. It's done that since new.

the 04. 5's will break 30, their wastegate is set up differently(electronic,ECM controlled) 450 degrees @ idle is too high but it might be the third injection event that the 04. 5's and up have to heat up the catalytic converter.

The peaking @ 32 then down to 29 is the same as mine, it's normal. On the egt's, no idea, havn't installed the guage yet.

I got the 30 lb because I am not planning to Bomb and thought the max pressure produced would be about 28 psig

also the mid range is where I expect to run pulling the 5th wheel.

I finally got around to checking again. We pulled the 5th wheel to DC last week and the truck was awsome. The idle temp in park will quickly drop to 300 deg. Most of the time on the road it ran about 800 deg with about 5 psi boost. pulling the hills in WV it would go to 1000 deg and 20 psi boost. Only once or twice did it drop out of OD. Mileage for the trip was 11. 9 hand calc. driving 65 mph on cruise.

Still grinnin.
