Does anyone know of a place to purchase 3. 54 ring and pinion gears or there abouts. I though about putting in 3. 32 gears and think the jump would be too big. Do a lot of highway driving, I think I will increase 2-4 GPM. I miss my '96, went to an '03.

Maybe you should think about an overdrive? Turns my 4. 10 to 3. 19 with 2-4 mpg increse on the highway... ... ... . :p

Here's the problem with the aftermarket over-drives, COST. I'd love to do it but the cost benefit is not there. With a 2WD, a person has to switch out the transmission to a four-wheel drive one and then add gear-vendor. Looked at US gear also, any opinions?

You don't have a truck profile, so I don't know what size wheels and tires you have. You can change your gearing by putting on larger tires, even more so by going to 19" wheels. Just a thought.

Your are right... ... With the GearVendor unit the back half of the 2wd NV5600 must be replaced with a 4wd unit to install the overdrive... . It is pricey but the cost is included with the purchase price.

You guys really think the fuel savings will pay off over time?

I can't say you're doing this for engine wear, I doubt that the Cummins will wear out faster at 2200 vs. 1800 RPM when it's made to outlast the truck as-is.

If I had 4. 10s I'd consider though.....

Have you called Randy's Ring and Pinion? (http://www.ringpinion.com) That's the shop I use for all my gear needs. I don't know if they'd have gears for trucks this new, but it'd be worth looking into.
