New good size oil leak' dont trust truck again

Nobody will stock the plug there is a very small call for the plug. It is metal by the way and once the ecm and mount are removed it is fairly easy to see. When they do leak they will show at idle. All it takes is to run it in the air to see it dripping

My friends 5. 9 recently developed a small leak in the same area. He hasnt torn into it yet, but is planning on doing it very soon as it is getting worse. Is this a threaded plug? I wonder if its npt? Just wondering if a regular old pipe plug would do the trick if not im going to show him this thread he may want to order one up because hes not going to like the downtime as he uses his rig to make money.

It is just a press in plug,I don't remember the exact size but picture a tiny core plug.

I understand the stocking issues, just me being frustrated having a truck w/ 45k been in the shop as much as it has, something in the 45 days w/ dealers for different problems, some big, some not so.
I would be more than happy to do work myself prefer it, just still have lots of warranty to run out yet.
I did truly do my homework (TDR help) and even diagnosis, and politely shared my homework w/ dealer (serv manager). I wouldn't have known near as much without TDRs help.
As for how easy it is to find, took a second guy to truly find it, not just hey its leaking. To make matters worse the first guy is they "old guy" in the shop. He wanted me to take truck home, so they could use the dye to track it down. When like Bob said it shows when you take the time to remove the ECM.

Could it be a fuel leak? I would lose that K&N before you have a real engine problem (pistons and rings).

Time for some Crow! I was just in the "office" doing some homework and found the K&N "think I read it" article. TDR 77, Pg 56, top few lines. What seals the deal for me is Genos took them off the shelves.

Had her back for a bit now, took a trip up the logging roads for a camping trip, no issues! Yea what I wanted, running, driving truck. Now as for the 62' of rig (bumper to bumper) , little snug for driving in the woods, so far so good.

Also RAM is standing behind me, they are comping me for the am mount of time they have had her in the last 3 years, = to 2 months payments. A change that seems to be driven by new leadership?

As Bob says below, it is just a press fit expansion plug. Item # 3, there are a couple of them on the LH side.

I would think he would of smelled the fluid on his tail gate... . if it was fuel im sure he would have smelled that... . unless he didnt put it to his nose..... I like to smell everything... . what I thought was an oil leak was the small line by the turbo..... so I knew it was not an oil leak...

As for smelling the leak, it was very short lived, something on the order of 10 miles or so before I found it. She had not done a re-gen and as tight as the new trucks are; not premeditated the cab in that short time. It was very evident after I got her back, not cleaned by dealer (even though they told me it was washed and cleaned completely) and she did a re-gen!!!! Plenty of smell to go around.
They are working w/ me and making things whole, local and from Detroit
