Yes! Don't follow the instructions!
The instructions recommend that you remove the bumper... I thought that was crazy; that much free time I do not have! Actually, if you can remove the bumper, go ahead... . but I was by myself and decided I wouldn't be able to handle it and get it realigned.
I installed the clips first from the front and positioned the outer-most ones where the grey plastic piece that hold the folg lamps meets the bumper... . that way the pressure on the clips when pressing the insert into them won't pop them out the back and fall between the bumper and the radiator area.
Ideally, you could spread the clips apart a little while trying to get them on -
As long as you don't have Popeye forearms
, you can get your forearm between the plastic bumper cover (pull it up a bit) and the radiators (I put a piece of stiff cardboard between my arm and the radiator so as not to bend any fins). You'll need to have some patience and realize that these clips are a bear to get on. Once you have the clips on the bumper, you can use a long screw-driver to apply some pressure to the rear of the clips to keep the first ones in place. The others can be spread apart a little from the front with a tiny screw-driver and worked forward with another small screw-driver through the front of the covers.
Warnings:
1) Installing the clips will scratch the chrome on the bumper a little bit - but you won't notice when the inserts are in place.
2) You will scratch up your arms and fingers a little
3) Tell the women and children to stay in the house if you are easily frustrated or loose patience quickly - you will at some point in time say "are these morons crazy?" and then add some of your own choice words.
But hey, they look cool and are functional - you'd get more upset cracking a fog lamp or seeing a rock or small mammal get through that opening in your bumper and trash your coolers!
Have fun with it and email me if you have any questions!
