I have a 02 ctd with exhaust from turbo back, edge ez with boost elbow, gauages that i just installed. Boost and egt. Went for a ride and truck only hit 24 psi of boost. Do i have a boost leak? how do you check? Could it be my egt probe where i tapped the manifold. I was told that my boost should be around 30 psi. everything else is stock. thanks andy

You'll probably have to hold the big go pedal to the floor for a little bit to get more than that with an Edge EZ. Stock boost is 20-22 psi. I'm hoping that your EGT pyrometer is on the exhaust side and your boost gauge fitting is on the intake side?????? Do you have a boost elbow in place on your turbo? If not you need one, one should've come with your EZ

This site is great !thank you for the quick reply. Good question to ask me, yes the probe is on the exhaust side and boost on intake. I was on several web sites and stock boost was 21psi. I thought at least with the ez and exhaust it would make more boost. yes the elbow did come with my ez. I seen that a web site had a adjustable elbow would that help? Or should i leave it alone and be happy with what i have. Do not want the overboost engine light to come on . One more question is there any diesel performance shops in maryland for ctd iam in hagerstown md thank you for the help.

So am i ok to say that my boost is where it should be. and would a adjustable elbow get me in to 30s. I do have the elbow from my edge already in the turbo. thanks andy

I know on my 01 after I installed my ez and a turnbuckle on my hy35 it would peak at 27psi but the most I would normally see was 24-25psi and that was with a turnbuckle. After I added 275 injectors then it would peak at 31psi.

Pour a little more fuel in it with a set of injectors and the boost will get to 30. When mine had stock injectors it would only get to 26 with the EZ and the elbow. With the DD-1's and the Catcher, it's at 36-38, and when the Mach 1. 6's are installed it should get a little more. Doesn't sound like you have a leak.

I see 30 psi with my EZ alone. Where you live has a little to do with it also.

Home in GA, 30 psi max. Florida (sea level) I can get 33 or so. Pretty impressive I think for only what I have in my sig.

If you want a little more block the w/g completely, with an EZ alone it shouldn't hurt anything if you do it for just a little bit.

Would a adjustable eblow help from RIP?I seen it own his website. This might be a dumb question? but do you put a bolt in the end of the rubber hose coming off the wastegate? And what do you do for the elbow that is in the turbo? thanks andy

To block the w/g completely, the easiest thing I could imagine would be to get a plug fitting and put it in the place of the boost elbow. I think its 1/8" NPT but I'm not positive. You should be able to find one at most any hardware stores.

If you wanted to test your elbow/wastegate you could take some small visegrips and clamp the hos to the WG closed or do like RJ said and plug the hole on the compressor side and just leave the hose hanging.

At your current power level, this is your best option. With JUST an EZ, I'd block off the wastegate using 1/8" NPT pipe plug.

I'd block the wg even after adding injectors if they are somewhat mild ones (80 or less).

As long as boost doesn't exceed 35psi with the WG blocked, it's fine.

Junk the boost elbow and buy a $0. 75 pipe plug from a hardware store.

I thought the '02s don't use a boost elbow. I didn't put one on mine. Anybody have a picture of the installation? I just received my boost gauge so I don't have any #s for comparison.

Since you have an '02 AUTO TRANS, you have no boost elbow. The wastegate is hardlined, so you have to do something else to raise boost (J-hook, turnbuckle, etc).

If your EGT's are ok you don't really need more boost, and will likley only increase the backpressure in the exhaust manifold. HY's are happy below 30 psi of boost. If you really want more you should look at some different tubo options.

My $. 02

I was reading on a post that a guy with a 99 was making 26-29 psi of boost? had the same aftermarket items that i have. Only diffrence is years 02 -99 why is his more than mine we both have edge ez and elbows. thanks andy
