Gauges....What is the good word?

Seems like a great source of info.

I'm looking at a 2000 2500 CTD 6sp. Other than thoroughly checking out the ball joints, is there anything specific that I should be looking for? Although this will be my first TD pickup, I've been driving 18 wheelers for 5 years, and I used to work in a Dodge dealership.

I see hardly anyone with any Banks equipment on their rides... why is that?

I own a 92 CTD so I don't know to much about the 2 gen trucks other than from what I have read. A couple of things come to mind.

- Find out what whether the engine has the Block #53 - they have been known to crack.

- Have the fuel pressure checked on the lift pump. Apparently this seems to be a problem with the 2 gen trucks. When lift pump is not putting out sufficient fuel it puts a strain on the injection pump causing it to break down - those puppies are not cheap.

I am sure others with more knowledge about these trucks will jump in with more info.

By the way the CTD is a good choice. I hope it works out good for you.

I used to have a 2002 6spd and let me tell you it was a very good truck, it did everything I asked and more. You really should check to see if it has a #53 block I believe you can tell by looking on the block on the passenger side just above the oil pan but I may be wrong. You can search the forums and will find many threads on the subject. Checking the fuel pressure is also an important thing to check out, i'm not sure how to do it but that is a big thing with the 2nd. From my understanding from opinons from some of banks products users is that they do not give you the power they claim. They advertise high numbers and provide you with low power numbers and I've heard that they have poor tech support. There is a thread in the 3rd gen forums a little while ago that banks products had burned up his engine, this is just hear say. There are many other power products out there that will do they job and not have problems with there products for the fraction of the cost of banks, check out edge, bullydog, or tst, all great companies. corey

I have the Banks options and think that they may be a bit to expensive. I will say that I have not had a lot of problems with my egts probably because they are engineered. I have not had a lot of help from them to determine how or what I need to do to get the results tha t I want.
