Lahotka,Welcome to the TDR my friend,sorry to hear of the battery problems,sounds as if your dealer fixed the problem however I understand your concern of future problems,I would get a box of baking soda and wet the area down so it will stick then sprinkle the baking soda in the battery box area,let it soak a while and if you can get a bristle brush and scrub it a bit then rince it clean. The baking soda will nutralize the ph of the battery acid. #ad

Baking soda is the answer. Make sure you remove the battery before cleaning to get all the areas you cant see. You'll find that the investment you made joing TDR will be the best investment you will ever make for your vehicle. Good luck.

I would ask what the dealer did to clean up the acid. The old standby is to make a solution of baking soda and water and wash the whole area. This will neutralize the acid. If the acid dripped onto frame or suspension, consider painting with a rust resistant paint (or did the dealer do this?).
It may help to spray the baking soda solution with a pressure washer to get into nooks and cranies.

The soda is the trick. I would then set up a garden hose spray nozzle to run for a few hours. What concerns me is the brass and copper electrical connections becoming corroded from the acid.
Also remember that some degressers are acid based. Really can cause problems on electrical connections.

Thanks for the welcome and input. I've done the baking soda bath and by the looks of your replys it is the best solution. Other than routine oil/fuel filter changes, I am not that mechanically inclined. I appreciate the expertise that other members have to offer. Great forum!

A recent under hood inspection of my 6,000 mile truck revealed a white chalky substance covering the entire passenger side battery area. Corrosion had already set in from the leaking battery(in a couple of days) and it went straight to the dealer for replacement and repair of the inner fender paint. What precautions should I take to make sure all the batter residue has been neutralized to prevent future corrosion.
