Hello everyone!



I finally became a member today after following the site for about a year. My family runs 5 1st gens. I have some pics to post.



I have quite a few ?'s for everyone so get ready.



The first is, will 285BFG MT's fit under a stock W250?



Thanks for all the info from the last year and to everyone who posts to this forum.

I have no ideas about the tires as mine are stock sized but welcome and spill the specifics about the 1st Gens!

Hey Matt, thanks for the welcome



We run 2 1992 1-ton duelly ext. cabs one w/ over 500,000 mi. We also have two 1992 W250 standard cabs that have over 200,000 miles on each.

Then the newest addition is a 1992 W250 ext. cab w/ only 107,000 miles on it. It unlike the rest is totally stock.



The 1-ton flatbed w/ . 5 million on the clock has a new transmission w/ DTT upgrades and Lucus injectors w/ a 16cm housing. The only thing done to the motor is a reworked head (head gasket failure) and a new inj. pump.



The rest of the truck hasn't faired to well.

3 transmission's, and 3 rearends.

This truck pulled a 46 ft. gooseneck year 'round for the first 350,000 miles. Still doesn't use oil (leaks a little from the front seal), and outruns my buddy's 2000 PSD.

Hi and Welcome;



As far as tire sizes that will fit on a stock 2wd 1st gen I would imagine many people, Myself included, are running 235 85r16 or something very similar. You may be able to go to 245's, maybe, but anything taller on the front will hit the fenders while turning. Guys running 285's will all be driving in 4x4's. This is as far as I know anyway.

I do have a 4X4. I like the 285's for stability and height. But I don't know if they will fit...



I have a set of 7" width wheels to put them on.

Check with your local tire dealers. They can let you know what widths are available in the 285's. I believe the taller the tire the minimum rim width goes up. See how high in heigth you can go with the 7" rims. That along with clearance will determine max tire size without going to wider rims and/or a lift kit.
