Fluidampr is going to have a 12 Valve damper ready to ship end of November. I am considering getting one. About 400 bananas.

The p/n matches up w/ Vibratech. Fluidampr's parent company?

" Fluidampr now has a complete line of viscous harmonic dampers designed specifically for the performance diesel engines. We currently have Fluidamprs for the 5. 9L Dodge Cummins, 6. 6L Chevy Duramax, and 6. 0L & 7. 3L Ford Powerstroke. Fluidampr has dyno tested on both stock and performance tuned diesel pick-ups and have shown consistent increases in horsepower and torque. We have noticed up to 15 horsepower and 40 ft-lb. of torque improvement over stock dampers. When testing trucks with performance tuners and chips, we observed very dangerous harmonic vibrations from these engines because the stock rubber damper can not handle the added power which will lead to crankshaft failure. Along with the increase in horsepower and torque, Fluidampr reduces the harmonic vibration by up to 80% which will protect and extend engine life. "

I really don't believe the above in bold for the CTD. Maybe the others.

If I told him, would ya have to kill me too? We've been testing them for several months now. One customer has gone thru 2 stock harmonic balancers on his 2003 truck, so far, no problems with the Fluidampr one.

I have a Fluid Dampner on both of my trucks it has taken out some of the rpm vibs out of the 99 and it appears to have stoped the belt chirp on engine stoping on the 02. Expensive but they seem to work.

Found this on the fluidamper site:

"Silicone fluid's damping capability is unmatched. That's why the fluid inside Fluidampr is guaranteed for as long as you own it. "

BigBad, Here is a copy of the email I got from them:

Pat,

Thanks for posting on TDR1.com, I really appreciate it. We are looking

into sponsoring many of these forums so we can post info and reply to

some of the questions that are asked about Fluidampr.

As far as the warranty info all Fluidamprs are warranted to be free from

defects in workmanship and materials for a period of ninety (90) days

from the date of purchase.

I will look forward to hearing from you after Thanksgiving. I will be

out of town at a tradeshow November 29 - December 4, so if you have any

questions or would like to order that Fluidampr you can place the order

with Lynn Livermore at 716-995-6233.

Thanks.

It sounds like Fluidampr will take care of you if the damper leaks or malfunctions even though the warranty is only 90 days.

I've read some where that most of the advantages are at higher HPs and higher RPMs I would like to confirm that or not for that money. and a street truck.

Waiting for my Fluidamper to arrive. Talked to one of the technical people, from the Company, Ivan. A very helpful chap. He recommended that I purchase new bolts for the new installation.

The specs he gave me were:
1. Minimum grade, 12. 9 or better
2. 12 point bolt
3. Size, M12 X 1. 25 pitch X 36mm long

Tried calling a local nut and bolt Company, but could not meat the "Specs".
Ended up going to Dodge dealership, and with 20% off they were still $7. 00 each !!! (Walked out funny after payment !)

In any case, the correct part number for the 4 bolts are : 04429857
A 15mm socket will be needed.

It's going on a 2001, 4X4, with auto trans.
So, can anybody give me some pointers on installation ?
How do you stop the engine from rolling over, when you apply 92 ft. lbs on each bolt ?
Can you get by, by not taking off the fan, or shroud ?
Thanks,

Peter

Use an engine barring tool to hold the engine. I reused my bolts. In fact, they have been in use for several R & Rs.

No need to remove the fan or shroud.

As above, use the barring tool, re-use the stock bolts, oil them on threads and shoulders, let them drain, clean the mounting surfaces with solvent, and torque to 92 ft-lb. Yes, you can leave the fan and shroud on--if you do so, access from below is better. Check carefully that the rpm sensor is the correct distance from the damper outer ring (around . 030" to . 060" works) and be sure the damper has a notch so the sensor can read the rpm.

FWIW, Cummins is using a fluid dampener now on the 2013s. The part is shown in TDR #80, p. 61.
