'91 came in with blown gasket, leaking coolant along center of head to outside. Coolant in oil and oil in coolant. Had complete valve job done by reputable shop, head resurfaced, etc. , went back with . 010 gasket. Had injectors rebuilt with new nozzels. Complete flush of cooling system and crankcase.

Starts up at first crank with no hesitation and idles, but has rough idle and quite a bit of smoke till run for a while. Not sure of previous history of truck, but am curious as to why there is so much smoke and rough idle till engine warms a bit. Grids are working fine. Smoke is mostly white, which is normal, but am curious about the rough idle.

After warmup, runs great with little or no smoke.

BTW, it is a auto with 225k on the clock, and this is the first major repairs, including the inj pump. All seems to be original.

KSB or lift pump. KSB advances the timing when cold. And, cold starts equal white smoke till warm. If it is nonIC, unhook the KSb wire when cold. If IC'd hook a jumper wire from the (+) terminal to the KSB and see if the tone changes. My thermo switch is bad, but I have a definite change in tone when it is cold if I jump the wire.

I get white/ grey smoke in mine if I suck the FP down under 3psi (new stock- style LP, enhanced fuelling). Only happens with 3/4+ throttle in 4th and 5th gears.
