Hi All,

I'm looking into replacing both my headlight assemblys and tailight housings.

I'm still running factory headlight assemblys that the plastics are starting to fade and haze up. Would like to retain halogen headlights so looking at either Chrysler replacements (more $$$) or an aftermarket housing that anyone has replaced which works just as well? Thoughts?

For the rear I'm on my third set of taillight housings (Chrysler units) and the second set of bulb strips. I'm replacing at least one or two failed bulbs at least once a year (usually just replace all six just so I don't have to do it again... ). Thinking of going LED for these... any good brands (Recon, etc. ) OR anyone go with LED and then switched back (quality issues).

Thanks,

Jon

LED Tail lights

Take a look at CarID - - - bought a set of rear LED's for my 06 - - good quality and the price was $188. 00 for both lights w/free shipping Spyder is the brand - - - not Recons as they were over $300. 00/set

about 3 years ago I replaced both headlights with some DOT approved replacements from a collision supply place I found on line. They have worked great and only cost $106 total delivered.

Prairie Dog, do you recall the name of that company ? I'll have to be doing mine before long. I thought my night vision had really gone south until I looked closely at the lenses.

I was affraid you'd ask me that  I've kept every reciept for my truck but that one. I'm thinking it was http://www.alloemcarparts.com/unified/?N=9217&Nr=OR(AND(make:Dodge,model:Ram+3500,year:2003),AND(universal:1))&Vi=10106+4294962954+1607&y=2003&mk=Dodge&md=Ram+3500 but I could be wrong. If it is then the price has gone way up but you can get them for $108 each and they look like the same manufacturer as mine.

eBay has some good prices too: http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_trksid=p5197.m570.l1313&_nkw=2003+dodge+ram+headlights&_sacat=0

Prairie Dog... . thanks for the info... these are actually the same replacements I've been finding on autopartswarehouse and rockauto websites but wasn't sure of the quality as compared to OEM... .

Anyone else using Spyder LED's on their trucks? I too don't think the Recon's are worth the extra price and have heard they don't seem to last (LED bulbs prematurely burning out, etc... )

Thanks,

Jon

Do these aftermarket headlight offer any better lighting than the original "03" OEM's? My OEM's are terrible for light output, I can run on highbeams all the time and almost never get flashed.

I've heard of too many complaints with projector, xenon, and HID headlights on our trucks unless you do a full conversion (I read about a LS430 HID conversion on the forum... ). I've decided to stay with halogen OEM's since these are designed for our trucks and don't require additional relays and capacitors. Also the housings have lasted 9 + years in rough 4 season weather here in Wisconsin so I can't complain much accept for the visibility aspect. I replaced my bulbs with the Phillips Xtreme 9007 bulbs which has made quite a difference in being able to see both close and down the road and now on my high beams I do get flashed back quite a bit more than I ever did in the past with OEMs.
