New Hemi and 5 speed auto

I know this is THE diesel site, but my brother is thinking of getting the new Hemi with the 5 speed auto.



Anybody know anything good or bad about this motor and trans?



Now he has the 318 in a 2000, and its a dog. He is thinking of the 360 or the new Hemi.

I guess the Hemi will outrun anything on the road, except a gas station. It only gets about 10-12mpg I hear. I would like to drive one though.

I drove one, it won't hang with the smallblock chevy trucks, and the chevy gets decent mileage.

My buddy in West Va just got a new 1500 4x4 quad hemi, replaced his 1st gen CTD, he didn't need the towing capacity of the Cummins anymore, and could not justify the extra $$$. He took a road trip in his new truck thru the west VA mountains and got a calculated 16. 5 mpg.

He test drove 1/2 ton v8 gassers from Ford and Chevy & told me it was absolutely no comparison powerwise, says the hemi had it all over the others - this is all hearsay, but this guy is a real straight shooter, so I tend to believe him.
