Took delivery of our new 3500 Laramie quad cab s/box srw last Friday. The truck is totally awesome. The 48re shifts very comfortable at part throttle and lets you know when it shifts under full throttle with very firm shifts. After a 250 all highway mile trip, computer showed 18. 8 mpg. It is the closest thing to a hot rod with a sports car feel since my 1968 GTX. (Wished I had that car back). That truck will run. Couldn't't be happier. Got a good deal from our dealer with DC and F/bureau rebates included.

I want to thank all the TDR membership for the help and information on our purchase of our new ride. Will keep you informed on how the new truck and the 48re performs.

Congradulations on your new truck.

I have to agree with you regarding the 48RE. The shifts seem alot more positive when compared to 47RE. Also the high output with 3. 73's pulls alot harder than my SO with 4. 10's did.

Grease Level

I forget to mention on my last post that I personally observed the grease level on both rear ends during PDI on our new truck and the levels where right on the "bye god" . Don't suppose that DC finally got the word. Transfer case level was okay also. Service manager told me that DC does not pay the dealers for any under frame inspections in regards to fluid levels. Interesting.

Good luck!!!

I hope your new rig works out for you. I'm looking at the same rig for my wife. I'm glad to hear the new Auto works like it should.

Happy Motoring

tow rates RE48

Can you tell the rear end and towing capacity of the Re48 is it higher than the SO Re47 combination.
