I called east coast customs about their cowl induction hood, they told me they have a new ram-air hood that does not ship fuctional but is buit to be made that way. It's not on their web site yet. I should get pictures later today.

I haven't bothered to check and see if they're functional, but American Auto Designs makes some killer looking hoods as well.

There are two designs for Dodge on that page. I particularly like the Dodge Ram-2 style.

(edit) I'm not affiliated with them in any way. Also, here's another site with someone who uses this hood...

Steel Cowl Hood

The steel cowl induction hood you are looking for is made by Reflexxion. If you call Doug Greenfield @Dave Smith Motors and tell him you are a TDR member he will take care of you :D . Sam

Duane,

I talked to the guys at http://www.americanautodesigns.com/product.htm and they were pretty receptive.

He offered to send a hood and an extra lower skin for the hood for wholesale, so that I can use the extra hood to template an airbox for my BHAF and for a moded stock box.

Then after I have determined where I want the openning he will build the functional hood to go with my airbox.

My neighbor has a fab shop and agreed to help me build the box.

There's a 2 wk lead time on the hood so...

In a few months I should be able to offer a functional Ram-Air hood designed for our turbodiesels.

Doug,

for some reason, you link doesn't connect to the site (dieselperformanceofutah). must just be down temporarily. got an pics of the hood, maybe some propaganda, sales stuff, to look at. Jim Leonard up in Weed, CA has one, says he loves it. Don't have 8 bills burning a hole in my pocket just yet, maybe this spring. thanks.

Jarred,

You dug up a thred that is two years old. . most of the links don't work. I have not seen Doug post on here in a long time. Hopefully someone will have the addy to his site...

I really like his hood and I know a local guy who has one... very nice.

I like the hoods found at www.ramairhood.com

I have the 03 one on my truck and was very pleased with the craftsmanship. They sell a functional hood. I have it on my truck , but have not made any attempt to hook it up. Right now the air dumps on the turbo versus going to the airbox... . CJ

Stay away from US BODY Source I bought a cowl hood and step side fenders for a 78 Chevy and the fit and finish really sucked! I have over 60 hours prep in the hood and about 30 hours in the fenders after they wouldn't take them back. I have never put a company down on this web site before but I couldn't stand by on this one.

I just replaced my hood with a reflexions steel cowl . It was

a great fit bolt right on took less than an hour. Got it through Autohaus . Do a search on (reflexions cowl hood). It was $462

delivered. Some of my buddies tried fiberglass hoods ,and they were all fitting them for a week.

I have the hood that is on : www.stingerfiberglass.com; that is actually my truck on there. I love it. The quality of the fiberglass was very surprising to me. The normal wavyness of a fiberglass hood is not there, the hood is very smooth. As for fitting the hood I had a local body shop that you might consider to be "high end" in their pricing do the job, and they only charged me $100. I dont know if that is because they were in the process of putting a $6,000 paint job on it or not. But it only cost me 100 bucks to have it done.

Some may say its not functional, but it gave it at least 100 horse!!!!

And I get alot more looks than I used to.

Yeah, I just realized that the forums don't can the threads after a couple weeks. I'm getting the hang of this thing!! Thanks for the links. Those hoods look great... when I have some cash to do it. In the meantime, I think I'm going to do what one other writer suggested: swap my passenger side battery with the breather. I have an AFE element with the "coldair" kit, which consistes of a small box that encloses the filter element. My battery will fit in there (with a new, longer battery cable) and I am going to get some 4" exhaust pipe and connectors to connect the filter to the turbo, and set it about where the battery is now. A little ram air looks like it will sneak past the intercooler and the elbo will be about a 60deg bend from the breather to the turbo, vice the 170deg or so that it does now. Seems like about $50 worth of parts. I have a pyro so I'll take some notes before and after a post what I get.
