Just wanted to share the hood I am installing on my truck. Truck is at the body shop for paint... ... ... and I am lost with out it. But I did not open the scoops, yet... ... ... . I really don't think it would make a diff, I think it would just make as mess in the rain... ... ..... lol, I hate polishing chrome... ... ... but I thought I would share... ... ..... later, BTW it is glass not steel.

What brand? How much prep was required to get it to fit properly?

I was looking at that hood but grabbed another. I really like that look (like the old GTX stuff) but I found a deal. Here is a link to the manufacturerer, I coudn't link to the page with the Ram Air II hood on it though.

I cut the scoops out, glassed in the gaps between the panels and built a panel to seperate the scoop area from the engine compartment. Then I built a duct to dump air the onto the air filter (currently a BHAF but that will be changing soon).

Post some pics whan it's done, I think that is one of the best looking hoods available for the second gen's. Mine should be painted in a couple weeks.

I looked at that one also, I didn't like the split down the center, looked too much like the stick on scoops from a distance... ... ... ... still though I did consider it.

The hood I bought is made by Harwood, prep was easy they only left a little glass around the edges to protect it while shipping, otherwise it came gel coat finish, the body shop liked that, since they didn't have to fill a bunch of pin holes. Looks like between the price of the hood and finsh work I should have about a grand into it.

Looks cool Jim. I just had my truck in the body shop for that hail damage. Week and a half later and 2 grand I got her back god did i miss it!!! I felt your pain.

Yeah, I am kind of wandering down this road. I love the look, but I would like to use the cold air ram also.

Suppose a guy could make removable duct plugs or some such for wet weather?

Jim

Just wanted to get a couple of pics up of the truck... ... ... ya I know it is dirty, till later, but for now at least I have it back... ... . later Jim.

It you get the interior right you don't have to. I pitched my pan forward to drain away from the filter and put a little 'ditch' near the end of the duct so I can direct the output of the stuff that makes it in all the way. Take a look at a Keystone Goodhood for an example. Keystone doesn't show the underside but one of the internet sellers does.
