If you think the turbo screams with a BHAF, you should hear how loud it is with an AFE filter. :D

I didn't have to modify the oil return at all. And going from a HY, all of your upgrade turbos require the purchase of at least 2 mounting bolts.

No AFE for me then. If I don't get used to it I will buy the MHAF and build an airbox for it.

I had to put a fair size dent in my oil tube. I hadn't read about nor did the instructions say that I would need the 2 bolts. I could care less about the $2 the bolts cost me, it was the getting cleaned up and finding a ride that was a hassle.

Well guys it rained almost all day yeasterday, when it wasn't raining the roads were still wet :( not good for trying to play with a new trubo. So I didn't drive the truck much yesterday.

PATRIOT_Ram, DarrellB is right about the sound. It is louder but the tone it much lower in pitch. Anyway it dosen't seem to be over powering in volume just different... . personaly I like it

My egt before turbo change i was able to peg a 1800 deg pryo. EGT is down but not enough. Injectors only I can hit 1400+ with out any proublem before reaching 100 mph. After turnning on a fueling box I can easly hit 1650+ pre turbo. EGT rise slowly after the 1400s but they keep on climbing with the fuel pedal on the floor.

For some reason smoke is darker at WOT compaired to the HX-35... Any ideas?

I called paul today and after scheid and labor day I am going to send my turbo back to be built into the KILLERB2 with the bigger exhaust housing and bigger compressors side.

This will be the 4th turbo to be on my truck, maybe I should have just went with twins  as of tonight the HTTurbo has close to 360 miles on it

I've heard of one 03 and I know of two more with them ordered. I'll post up when I find out how she runs

Buttoned mine up this morning after a problem with the down pipe  The exhaust got in a bind and I couldn't line up the flange of course I was alone and no help and I had to cut old downpipe to pieces to get it off as it was crimped on :( by the c-clamps still have a small leak at the band clamp I'll try to readjust. First Impressions were that not a whole lot of EGT reduction but it losened up some today (put 100miles on it) and this think will spool :D Factory wastegate set at 38psi so when I put my needle valve wastegate control on look out 48psi and the EGTS stopped at 1300# Oo. where as the comp on 5x5 I hit 1500# with the factory wastegate setting. Clears up the smoke and now cruising EGTS are lower. Overall I am tickled pink !

alot of none 03's are posting about this turbo, are their any 03's with this turbo out there. more info please on newer trucks.

I Have a 2004 and this turbo will fit, the oil return line bolts are a pain to put back, and you have to make a down pipe, that is done with a 60 elbo cut to mach the stock elbo and weld the adapter to the turbo end and cut off your stock down pipe and band clamp to the elbo. It is some work but it will fit.

the turbo help put down 456. 8 Rwhp uncorrected at Edges event on Aug 14

It spools like my HY35 did. EGTs are lower by 150-200*

FYI...

I just took my HTB2 off this morning so someone in our group can try it out. I put my 40 back on and all I can say is WHATAPIG!!!!

EGT's are up 200*, very laggy, no throttle response...

It's amazing how ya get attached to these mods...

The 40 is only on for a little while, twins are very close to being completed! Oo.

New Thoughts

Well the turbo has just over 600 miles on it and this is what I have seen.

Egt don't seem as bad now as I once thought they were. Maybe it just had to free up some with a few miles on it. I can still hit some high temps but it takes alot of fuel and some time to get them that high. I think some of my egt problem is from the Marco's ecm and my JVD box not defueling on the uper rpm that where I see the high temps. Boost still stops at 35 psi I am sure that if I was to up it to 40-45psi that would help a bunch too. Also fuel mileage is way up, I made 2 changes at the same time a fast fuel system and an a turbo don't know witch one helped the most but I am getting great mileage now even driving 80 mph on the interstate. It is hard to beleve for those that have never drove a truck with this turbo but it spools so fast it is unreal. smoke in stop and go traffic is down from my hx 35. even making a kind of hard run smoke is still down from the hx35. It has been a while since I had the 50/55 I used to have and with many mods latter it's hard to say witch one cools better on the top end will full fuelling going on. But it is very easy to say this turbo cools much better when driving on the road and I will beable to tow with it.

I am leaving for the lake friday with the boat in tow I will let you guy know how it does latter next week.

:) This turbo is by far best turbo I have ever had. :D

Chris I put a needle valve on mine and can adjust the boost or just chinch it off and I hit 50psi today oopps :-laf like to keep my present headgasket. Cools very well at the 45psi area. With the wastegate set at 35psi the drag on 5/5 I can hit 1500* on a long pull 100mph+ but with boost set at 48psi only 1300* at 100mph+ soo mine is set at about 45psi and this thing rocks :D :D :D Feels real strong need a dyno :D

Dyno'd mine over the weekend and only picked up 16hp and lost about 30ft-lbs of torque. :( By the time the turbo lit on the Dyno Jet the truck was tacked out. I also only seen 42lbs of boost where on the street on level 4 it will make an easy 50lbs. These 4:10's just don't dyno very well.

I still like the turbo though, much better than what I had.

What dyno numbers? Share please.

I don't have the sheet on me, but my previous #'s before the turbo where 431hp/973ft-lbs. My #'s from the weekend where 447hp/964ft-lbs. Was the torque. I didn't loose as much as I thought. Both of those sets of #'s where from DynoJets so I'm not sure if it was the hot hummid weather or what Saturday, but it was sure a disapointment for $65. :(

JaMan, When I send the turbo back to paul for the 64mm compressor I am also going to see how far paul will crank up the boost.

DarrellB what turbo were you using before?

Did anyone else have the turbo wheel clip or am I the only one?

Any one got one of the KILLERB2?

holy cow guys, let me start with a wow... . or :) WOW :) with a big smile on my face.

I now have 1500 miles on this turbo with about 400 towing, this turbo is great for pulling a trailer. even with no fueling added I was able to push 30+ of boost at 1500 to 1600 rpm in 6th gear at 55 to 60 mph. It makes the truck pull like a truck should pull. Torque is unreal when boost come up, and Egt temps were great, Only when I put my foot to the floor and was over even the highest of speed limits did I see over 1300 degrees. (keep in mind my ECM does not defuel like a stock ECM). With a little smaller injector and a sock ecm egt wouldn't be a problem for even a lead footed person pulling the largest of trailers. Pulling at interstate speeds with CC set egt never went over 1150 on missouri hills flat ground 800. Again this thing is great. I am almost afraid to send it back to Paul for the changes I thought I wanted. I don't see how it could get any better then this will out going to twins. My mileage pulling was 16, which is up some but I have made so many changes I can't say if the turbo made all difference on mileage. Total weight was + or - 11000lb, pulling HP was + or - 400

has anyone else pulled anything yet with there HTB2 yet?

They clip the turbine wheels to increase the spool and lower the exhaust back pressures.

Funny. When you put "clipped turbine wheel" into Google, the first two hits say:

"When an angle is machined on the turbine wheel exducer (outlet side), the wheel is said to be 'clipped'. Clipping causes a minor increase in the wheel's flow capability, however, it dramatically lowers the turbo efficiency. This reduction causes the turbo to come up on boost at a later engine speed (increased turbo lag). High performance applications should never use a clipped turbine wheel. "
