I have heard that the ATS manifold flows a lot better than the stock one, so I wouldn't think that it would be a waste of time or money. I would, however, consider a B1-04 turbo as well before you decide on which one you are going to get. I just put one on and it is basically a direct bolt on. No changes to the downpipe or intercooler connections (you have to rotate the intercooler tube a little but thats it). This turbo has no "surging" problems that the HTB2 seems to have and will flow/cool as much if not more than the HTB2. There are a few guys on here putting down some big HP with the B1-04 and keeping EGT's relativley in check.

I have been talking to Lenny alot at Dynomite diesel because of the 600's arent quite a direct bolt on, and he says that the HTB2 (I think he said that the killer 64) and the B1-04 have the same compressor wheel and housing, only diffrence is B1 has the diffrent tubine outlet, 15 cm housing, and the charge pipe off the compressor housings are diffrent.

The surge is kind of an odd ball thing. Some truck do it, some don't. Auto's are more likely to when they go into lock up. Also, some times the TAG helps out on the surge.

I made a slight mod to mine and cleared the surge right up. The turbo was a lot more fun to drive afterwards.
