I have been getting my guages installed with the A pillar mount. I was not crazy about using the original piece and modifying it then using the snaps to hold the cover in place, nor was I too crazy about using the 1 screw method.

Instead, I used velcro. Some car manufactureres have been using it to attach bumbers. It actually works pretty well. I cut a piece about 1/4 and attached it to the sheet metal that runs right next to the window. Then did the same thing to the guage mount. I guess time will tell if it hold up.

Just wanted to give members another install option.

I tried the same thing... I cut some pieces of plastic that formed an "L" and glued it to the "A" pillar piece. The problem is, is that I live in Las Vegas and when it gets 130+ inside the truck... the tape on the velcro doesn't stick to well. It kept falling off. I am still trying to find something that will work for me.

its not getting 130* here in the northeast in my truck but the velcro trying to hold my TC SAVER in place isn't doing to well ...

since i already butchered my original a piller its no big deal ...

I use "emblem tape" when I think the heat might cause something to turn loose from heat. It's the same thing used to put "Badging" and mouldings on vehicles. I found some at Walmart.

Sometimes, you can find Velcro with emblem tape adhesive (more difficult) and this stuff works great. I think the backing on the velcro adhesive is a different color (red vs blue) for the high strength stuff. Might have it backwards.

Why not use acetone to remove the existing glue that comes on the vecro, then use epoxy glue. If you ever decide to remove the guages the original pillar will cover the old glued on velcro.

I used double sided 3M tape to hold the A-Pillar cover to the OEM A-Pillar piece. I am very happy with this setup. It fits nice and tight unlike the little "push plugs" supplied with the cover.

The Velco is a neat idea though. Easy to remove if necesary to change a bulb or something.

Another Option

I bought a plain (no tweeter) A-Pillar from Mopar-4-Less for less than 30 bucks. I cut the wire access holes in the Dodge pillar and used contact cement to glue the three pod and the dodge pillar together. Then, with the gauges installed, snapped the pillar into place like the original.

Just a thought: Re: the single screw method, drill and tap the hole for a black allen head screw with a flat black washer, paint them to match the color of your A pillar. It looks very nice and professional.

I did this without the washer, and it seems to be just fine after several months, and this summer's Phx. heat.

It does look good IMHO.

I've used some of the industrial strength velcro in other places in a travel trailer. It's been in some pretty hot and humid places with no adverse effects on the velcro.

This stuff is extremly strong they claim it's 50% stronger and waterproof. I've only seen it in 15' lengths at Home Depot.

You should make sure you get the original velcro product instead of the "hook and loop fasteners". I guess velcros patent ran out and there's alot of other manufatures out there. The original costs more but it's worth it.

By the way... if I recall correctly, the industrial stuff is something like $25 a box:eek:

I used the same mounting method Bruce did... I purchased a non-tweeter A-pillar from my Dodge Dealer, applying the Gauge Works triple w. tweeter gauge panel on top. This allowed me to cut the holes in the Dodge A-pillar exactly where I wanted them.

Emblem Tape

Sadly I used the same stuff to mount the boost guage in my Conquest. It had a gauge cup and mount. Not wanting to put any holes in the dash I just threw some tape down on the dash and stuck the mount on it. Holy Sh*t it worked. Held though many rough shifts and donuts. I could grab second hard enough to skip the CD player and it would never move the gauge. The car was Black with Black Leather also... so its not gonna get much hotter than that. When a friend of mine demolished the car along with 30 ft of fence and a toolshed(which he hit with the roof) the guage did come off lol.

Glad you posted this. . I had forgotten totaly about that. I am off to remount my A-pillar lol
