I noticed that my boost pressure is about 2 psi higher with the new style filter than it was with the older one also the boost comes on a slight bit faster. I've got just short of 15,000 on this "new" design and the vac ind has yet to move where the old filter would have pulled the Vac ind almost all the way over by now. Turbo side of the filter is nice and clean so I know it's working... ... Good Job Dodge engineers!!!
I did back to back dyno runs on my then stock 03 with the orig old-style stock filter followed by runs with a BullyDog and another washable oiled filter. In all cases the aftermarket filters made a solid 9 HP more.
great info; so is this info just based on replacing the air filter and not the whole air intake system? Are there any advantages to replacing the stock air intake system and going to an aftermarket system like K&N or AFE? I have read a lot of post that say the stock system does not allow enough air flow?
I have a pro guard filter on my 03 and 95 thats been on for about 3 years, everytime I service the filter I take a clean white rag and wipe out the tubes there is never any dirt or anything else on the rag, I'f dirt was getting past the filter it would be showing up inside the tubes. evan at the turbo inlet it is clean. I am not in a real dusty area so maybe that helps.
I just got a 4+2+1 maintenance kit from Geno's last week and it had one of the new air filters in it. Put it in my wife's '04 and shes says it runs pretty good.
