Fresh Air

 This is truly a breath of fresh air from DC. Listening to the guy on the production line as they're the ones who know what does/doesn't work. If they can spread this philosophy throughout the engineering and production of Chrysler vehicles, throughly pretesting in real world conditions, and listening to their consumers, they'll be unstoppable. Over-engineering=higher initial costs, but limited warranty claims and loyal customers. No rebates or discounts will be needed as customer base will grow and grow. Amen :D

I apologise for posting old info. I didn't even see it's date until it was mentioned!

Hmmmm!! 800 pounds of TQ? I wonder what future power output may be in store for Ram? Oo.

Yep, what's coming is very exciting... Here's a quote I heard from a source, "Horsepower and torque numbers the Ford and GM guys can only dream about!"

The Chrysler 6-speed automatic is another reason GM is coming out with a 6-speed version of the Allison 1000 for the 2006 model year. They must have an idea about what's coming from Dodge.

I would have to agree that the American side of DC is selling vehicles because of the uniquely American aspects, not because of the MB sourced parts. After all, MB quality has been in the pooper for YEARS, probably 15 years. The Hemi, the Cummins, the various SRT vehicles and the styling have all played big parts. Heck, I doubt most consumers know or care about the MB parts. They just know that they look cool and drive right. :D

So, 2007..... I should be ready for a mega cab, six speed auto, with an 800lb/ft Cummins by then

I agree with you completely! The average consumer doesn't know or care that the Dodge Magnum or Chrysler 300-C. Sedan has a Mercedes transmission behind the Hemi. They only hear the word Hemi, and relate that with big power and TQ. They also only see a vehicle that is very appealing to the eye!

68RFE is still in the bidding process some of the suppliers have been chosen. Will be built at the Indiana Transmission Plant 1(545RFE plant)

I really feel that with all the troubles that Ford has had with the 6. 0 and related other problems as well as GM's woes albeit smaller in scale when compared to Fords. DC is about to explode on the scene of the light duty haulers 1500-3500 aswell as the future med haulers and go head to head with Ford and General Motors especially when the Mega Cab makes it into to production. Ive got some pretty die hard brand loyalists about ready to give a Dodge Cummins a try :-{} .
