First, let me apologize for my poor spelling... . I just had eye surgery (PRK) and the recovery sucks! My vision is worse than before the surgery.

Like the title states... I just had new injectors (6) installed at the dealership under my warranty @ 92,000 miles. My truck is still idling rough, in fact my truck shakes... . ? No codes, but I'm running out of options here. At idle my RPM's are consistent and do not jump up and down, but it feels like a misfire? Could this be the FCA? Are there codes that would be present?

Please, any help anyone can provide me would be great! My father is going to take my truck in for service for me on Thursday (Still can't drive :{). I figured might as well get it fixed while I'm recovering.

Thanks in advance to all. (I hope my spelling isn't too bad!) ;)

FCA can cause rough idle and a hesitation at certain RPM ranges. That would be my next move.

I agree I would replace the FCA, a lot of times injectors are suspect when really the FCA is not maintaining correct fuel rail pressure. Had this exact problem on my 03.

TURBO KIDD fill out your sig,like the rest of us. Lot easier to discuss your truck then.

I know your right... . I have evry intention of doing so... When I can see better. :{

I have an 2003 Ho, Auto 4x4. Does anyone know if the FCA is covered under the 100,000 mile warranty? If not how much do they cost?

Thanks Again.

If you just got your injectors replaced then the FCA shouldnt be a problem! Its right on the back of the CP3 pump. If not I think its only about $100 from a cummins dealer and about 10 minutes to change.

There was a thread awhile back stating similar symptoms, seems there is a wire loom/cable on the passenger side of the engine. Where this cable runs under the AC compressor it rubs on the bracket and causes the sheath of the cable to ground out. You may want to check this out, just a very fine hole was causing the same problems in a number of 03/04 trucks.

Yeah I remember reading that thread. Dont remember what the wire went to but it rubbed the insulation off causing it to ground out by the ac compressor making the truck idle and run funny.

Thanks for the input... . However, I have already fixed that problem too. :confused: I'm running out of ideas, so I'm going to replace the FCA next.

If that doesn't do it, I will replace the crank sensor? Does anyone know any thing about Roeteck (Spelling?) crank sensors?

Thnaks!

The RockTec crank sensor just has the diameter shaved down a bit. It is a stock OEM crank sensor, allowing you to adjust the timing 2 degrees. I took mine off after I added some other goodies and carry it in the glove box as a spare. But it would be a good choice (if the price is same as a stock one) then you can adjust your timing a little bit if needed.

I have been battling the rough idle issue on my 03 lately and I almost had a new set of injectors installed but I cant convince myself thats my problem cause the minute I go above idle the truck runs smooth and the power is great as ever and no fuel has been detected in my oil so here is something I am going to try next on mine... I notice I get a high idle sometimes when my Edge ez is stacked with my TST, when I removed my Edge EZ the high idle no longer happened but my rough idle was still there and so I removed the TST and still rugh idle, I am thinking of changing the Map sensor that the edge box plugs into as I dont think it is reading right since I only get the high idle with the Edge box hooked up so I think the problem is somewhere in the circuit the edge plugs into. I originally thought injectors and that maybe the additional pressure from the Edge ez was causing my injectors to leak but I cant convince myself this is the case plus it does not do it all the time. So at hopefully next week I will replace what I believe is the Mapp sensor and then maybe the FCA

Good luck

FCA = fuel control actuator...

One thing that was missed is the other half of the rail pressure deal... the rail pressure relief valve, these will cause low rail pressure too.

The wire in question is part of the AC compressor... IIRC, it is also part of the crank position sensor. The crank position sensors usually work or don't work...

My '03 had the high idle and then the rough idle - I started to use injector cleaner and it went away - now it's back w/o high idle.

Truck runs great - super power just a lope at idle when cold and mildly when warm.

I will check the wire @ AC Compressor.

Now I am getting some slight white smoke as well.

By all means check the wire, it is an easy fix..... However, if you are blowing white smoke, my guess is you have at least one bad injector.

Let the dealer hook a DRB to it and look at what is going on. They can watch command RP versus actual RP. This will eliminate any questions on the fca or relief valve.

AGREED! However, my dealership's techs are retarded (Sorry, if I offended anyone with the word... . I'm only making a reference)! The tech that did my injectors, didn't even know where the FCA was... . I had to show him! Man Chrysler needs to get some techs trained better. I just gave up with them..... The dealership and techs are nice people, but less than capable of fixing my rig. I asked to see if the FCA was covered under warranty, and they told me no. So, I just bought one, and I will change it this weekend.
