I installed an Edge Insight with the optional EGT probe and if this thing is right, it's downright scary. I put 275,000 miles on my last truck, a Y2k Laramie dually, 6 spd. manual with gauges and stock. Towing heavy, it would get to just over 1000 deg. EGT in the hills running 20 lbs. boost. This new truck really runs good, but it runs HOT, it will get over 1000 deg. EGT just running empty at 70 MPH, QUICK . What is normal for these new rigs? It doesn't run any boost at all at times, even when not in regen, but will build boost qiuckly when you get into it. This is a whole new experience from the old truck. Do you guys have any words from experience with these new trucks? Thanks... . Larry

Don't give it a thought. It's normal. Begining with the 2004. 5 HOs the engines routinely produce egts as high as 1450* under full power and are designed to tolerate those temps.

Yes I also noticed that the boost is almost nill. In stock setting I could pull out into the drive and do a slow accel to 40mph with no boost. It seems they don't utilize the full turbo potental in these new trucks. The highest read I could get going full bore up hill was 29psi. After I installed a mini-max and using turbo tune now I can get 35psi and exhaust gas temp is loweredf by about 150 degrees.
