On my father's 96 we just bought, the drain plug leaks. We bought a HD from genos and it still leaks. No dents in the pan, however some grooving like mentioned on previous posts from overtighening the stock plug. Its not bad though. I noticed when taking the drain plug out of the pan, there is a 1/4 space before the threads in the pan, with 4 small square machined holes, does another gasket go in there? If not, i guess its time for a drain valve with some RTV

Thanks

Erik

Ive got the heavy duty plug from genos and the gasket provided with it. like a hard plastic prob nylon. I think the pan has been over tighened too much... might be time for a valve, any other suggestions?

EBottema,

It could be the gsaket. I just cracked my plug. Istopped at the auto parts guy for a replacement. The washer leaked. :{

I went to Cummins for a replacement :D Their 3 piece gasket sealed right up with no leaks. :cool:
