Friday Humor - It Isn't always what it Appears!!!

Anyone seen the Leatherman Surge or the XTI? i'm looking at getting a new one and they both look similar with only a few differences.

Surge has Scissor's, blade exchanger and Awl (black titanium)

XTI has Cutting hook, serrated knife and a few more bits (stainless).

They share everything else. Anyone seen them both? have a preference?

I have an XTI and its nice, however most of the time I still carry the original basic PST model I bought it to replace. The PST is simple light and small, while the XTI is almost too much for me. I would honestly go for one of their smaller units if you plan on using it every day. I got mine 12 years ago as a Christmas present as a kid and its still something I use everyday at work. Its a nice product.

My personal opinion and use is for a few basic tools, e. g. pliers, two knife blades, awl, phillips, straight screw driver, and possibly a can opener. Don't really care for the extraneous tools, e. g. sawblade, scissors, file, and more than one straight screw driver, and etc. Simple and light is the key.

I've got a Mini which I keep on my climbing rack sling.

I scored a Wave at a pawn shop for $25 in excellent condition. I wear it when working in the backcountry when wear a belt and suspenders versus just suspenders around the station. More extraneous tools than I care for, but the price was right. Still haven't managed to come up with a good way to carry the Wave with just suspenders. Open to suggestions.

I sure like how the newer ones let you open the knife blades instead of having to open the handles and then the blades on the original one I had.
