If you notice my other thread, my LP had been leaking fuel, so I made an appointment and went to the dealer today...
Tech looked at it, and sure enough, it was leaking (I guess I'm retarded and didn't know what I was talking about
) so he told the service manager I needed a new one... check for one in stock and sure enough, they have FIVE of them!! I thought they couldn't stock ANY, let alone FIVE! The one thing the tech did do that made me feel good was say from memory the Part #, which told me he's replaced lots of them...
I asked him where it was leaking from and his reply was "The electrical connection on the bottom. " Now, I've had my other transfer pump apart before, and I couldn't see how it would be possible for fuel to get out of the impellar part and down through the wires, but he said it was (he had also told me 1 year ago that my steering box had "jumped a gear" which I now know is physically IMPOSSIBLE!!!) Anyway...
My old LP had been showing good numbers... 14 at idle, 10-11 at cruise, but down to 0-1 PSI at WOT (Drag Comp and 3's will do that). New LP shows 14. 5-15 at idle, 12 at cruise, and 4 at WOT... also doesn't suck down nearly as fast as the old one did, so I guess the old one was getting weak? 20k miles and 1 year old last week (had it replaced this same time last year by same dealer). Maybe my mileage will go up now too... has been sucking lately around 13-14. 5 MPG. Pickup also is idling a LOT smoother now, doesn't have the rough "missing" type idle to it... any connection there you think?
Oh, no mention of my Comp or turbo, or exhaust, or injectors, or gauges, or anything... just a "Yep, you need a new pump, and we'll put one on in about an hour!" Works for me! LOL... same dealer that took my roommate for $160 yesterday for air/fuel filter changes!
