Hello,

Newbie here, Paul M Petcou, Great site you people have a wealth of info here. I just bought a 99 2500 CTD quad cab, auto 354, 67k and brought the truck in for the first oil/fuel filter change at Cummins in New Hudson Mi. and the tech said he had some trouble getting fuel took a couple of attemps, I'm assuming that the lift pump must be getting soft, its the orignal with 67k so I bought a replacement and have gone through the site for directions and feel I have a grip on it,I'm going to attempt the install without removing fuel filter housing, anyways after lift pump install do I need to bleed air from system and if so do I do it by loosing one of the 2 screws on the top of filter housing and bump the starter without starting ???

Gauges are in my future but I dont want to be killing my IP so thats why I'm installing lift pump before gauges, planning to attend your Jackson Mi. dyno day and looking forward to meeting a few of the people on this site!!!

Thanks for any info... ... ... ... . Paul

I just replaced my first LP a few days ago. After the install, all I did was bump the starter about three seperate times and let the LP run for about 20-30 seconds each time. It fired right up and didn't even run rough or smoke. Hope this helps. Clay

No need to open the injector lines. Just cycle the pump a few times as mentioned above. I DO recommend shooting a little light oil or at least diesel fuel into the new pump before installing it. I put one on once that would not move a drop of fuel until I removed it and primed it... live and learn.
