Steve,

I got two no-load errors this time thru. One was a completely blank page (a thread in General Diesel Topics" and the other was the first attempt at this reply page. In this case it loaded the top portion of the page (heading, spinning logo, and the "where we are" line below the buttons.

David,

Thanks for the suggestion about Mozilla. I give it a try on one of my favorite web sites, ancestry.com . That site has a few things that don't quite work right with NS, but are still usable. If it works correctly there I will switch.

There have been backbone problems in the Atlanta area tonight Joe. I've had problems with getting through to the site intermittently and when I did tracert's there were severe delays in the Atlanta area (which is where the servers are). That could have caused the problems you experienced tonight. I browsed the site for over 2 hours today on netscape and didn't have a single blank page come up. I was easily able to replicate the problem before that. Let me know if you see it again tomorrow.

Steve,

Those were the only two instances I have seen of the problem this evening. Load speed has improved quite a bit from yesterday. With over 300 users on the site that is impressive.

bug or what??

It seems I dont get the email noticed that someone has replied to a thread I have subscribed to anymore. I have checked my options here and on my email on my end.

Everything seems to be working on this end and I'm still getting them. It's possible that your ISP is bouncing it with their SPAM alert software if they have one. I see that you subscribed to this thread - did you get an alert on this one? Also, verify that your email address is still correct.

its crazy, man

No, I didnt get an email notice to your reply to this thread. Yes my email is correct with what I have in my options folder.

Amianthus sent me a pm, and I got an email for that. I agree with you suspictions that my ISP may be bouncing the emails. Damn commies. I will find out and let you know.

Thanks Steve,

Jim:confused:

post wraparound

Steve;

The new look is great. the one thing that has happened, even from the old look, the post "get last days entrys " or "view new post", there is a wrap around of at least four posts. and when you view a post and then come back, its as though you are on a hole new page, or you end up back on top with all new listings. i hope this is understandable.

Thanks for your good work and dedication.

Marv.

I'm not quite sure what you mean. When I do a view last days posts or view new posts if I click on thread and then hit the back button I'm put back on the list where I left off - I'm using IE 5. 5 and I tested it with Netscape 4. 6 and it did the same thing. On the wrap around do you mean on the 2nd page? If so what's happening is that new posts have been added to the top of the list. When you go to a second page it's doing another query of the database and specifying page two. So lets say 4 new posts were added, then there would be 4 additional posts on the first page (which you wouldn't see unless you refreshed the screen) and when you go to the 2nd page you'll now see the 4 bottom posts that were on the first screen. There's not really any way to get around that unforetunately - it's the price we pay for having so much traffic :D !

thanks Steve, that is what is happening and for new post- that is probably what is happening also. so i guess, just be patient. thanks again.

Hi Steve

Great work on the new look.

I also have trouble with not getting an e mail when someone adds a post to a subscribed thread. Cant remember when it started doing it.

John

I'm aware of the spell check not working. That happened with the server move this week - I talk about it in the server move posts. Once I recover from a long week with little sleep (this week or next) I'll get it fixed.

Spell check should be operational now. I changed the software while I was at it - this software looks like it will be more compatible with browsers other than IE.

New Problem: Hotlinks in Posts

Steve, seems I've found another something to work on.

I just tried posting here and anytime I enter hotlinks I usually enter it to show text, and turn off "Autmatically Parse URLs. "

In this post I tried to enter two hotlinks. The first one went fine, the second one keeps forcing the URL for TDR homepage in front of the URL to the webpage I'm linking, no matter what I do. Therefore it only goes to the TDR page. Take a look at my post at the bottom of the page:

https://www.turbodieselregister.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&postid=594661#post594661

When I go back in to edit, the TDR URL doesn't appear. But if you look at the post and right-click over the second hotlink then click "properties," it clearly shows the TDR link, in front of nwbombers, like this:

https://www.turbodieselregister.com/forums/<br%20/>http://www.nwbombers.com/board/ikonboard. cgi?s=3e4722492f58ffff;act=ST;f=13;t=1611

When I go to "Edit this Post" the text for the link appears like this (removed brackets around "url=" to make it appear as text here) "url="

http://www.nwbombers.com/board/ikonboard. cgi?s=3e4722492f58ffff;act=ST;f=13;t=1611] DDP Dyno Day 12-07-02, Monroe WA "/url"

This has me very

 This is even more strange than not being able to link pictures from readers' rigs like we can from other websites. . .
