When I was at the Timberline Show this summer one of the rigs I looked at had a 2WD with a different manifold. Can you folks tell me what the advantage is to getting a different manifold and what are the costs and recommendations?

It was probably an ATS manifold. They have better flow than stock, which would lower EGT's, they're ready to install a Pyro. Also I think some of the factory manifolds had a problem with cracking and when that happens to some guys they see it as the perfect time to buy an ATS. I guess if I had the money to burn or if my manifold cracked I'd get one too. Can't remember exact cost but I beileve it is somewhere around $300? Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

ATS Exhaust Manifold

They are around $400 and if you elect to get it coated, it's more yet. But, hey, it's only money. :D

They will lower exhaust gas temperatures up to 100 Degrees F.

heres a pic

Here is the pic of mine.

By the way, I drive truck with a N-14 cummins and this is the style of manifold it has on it. should have had it on it in the first place.

I thought it was more, but I didn't want to shoot a really high price. You're right radixr it's only money... what else are ya gonna do with it but spend it? Any if you're gonna spend it, why not on the ram? :D Maybe someday I'll have one, after the DTT TC, Edge Ez, and "Still Under Investigation" Turbo. ;)

Wanna know what the ATS Manifold looks like when all the "New" has worn off ?

I'm still very very pleased with the ATS,, if you have a cracked manifold, this i definatly THE Replacement Manifold for the Cummins 5. 9 ISB

Scott,, we have GOT TO MEET one day.

Yes,, my truck, for 75K miles was rode very hard, and put away soaking.

It is now being drove "Like I stole it" and is being put away only moist.

Your truck is still sweet,, can't wait to figure out how to put an Exhaust stack like you have,, on my truck that has a camper...

NICE TRUCK SCOTT!!!!

P. S. I borrowed your pic so I could post it here. Hope you don't mind :D

Thanks buddy, no prob. on the pic, although the rear view is now somewhat obscured from the tool box. Wished I lived closer, we'd be BOMBing the heck out of our rigs together.

PYRO PROBE!!!

Merrick, when are you going to move that pyro probe out of the mounting boss for the heater hose and into th exhaust stream. I don't think it's doing much good just reading the #4 cylinder.

Dean

Dean is right, the thermocouple should be located on top of one of the two casting bosses provided by ATS... (i. e. , one of the two round, raised areas on the center section of the exhaust manifold right next to the manifold outlet... next to the turbine housing inlet).

WeirCummin, John, I'll be movin' that probe as soon as I can,, haven't made enough time to do it. So Far my stock clutch isn't able to hit 800* with that setup,, without slipping.

I'll be putting a South Bend in my truck in a few weeks (about 3)

I will definatly move it by then.

Thanks for your concern,, no need to worry,, I'll move it before the new clutch. . probly this weekend.

Scott,, Just BOMBing ??

Hah, Scott, we wouldn't be only "BOMBing" our trucks, I think we would be BOMBing our trucks in a nuclear manner... as in,

A-BOMBing or, H-BOMBing our trucks. heheh :D

Ready for serious HP?,, nope,, we would be past that. hehehe

Just If I could find a bank account that would be self replinishing... ... :)

MerrickNJr

P. S. As soon as I find that bank account,, I'M MOVING UP THERE!! :D

"Your truck is still sweet,, can't wait to figure out how to put an Exhaust stack like you have,, on my truck that has a camper... " Where it comes through the camper, paint it black and call it a pot-bellied stove!:D Gotta say though, you guys have GOOD taste! Great picture - Greg
