Just bought an 02 dually!!

What's a "Dyno run" - and what does it do?

Hello all,

I have been reading for a long time but joined recently as I will soon be ordering my first diesel. My question is when is the cut-off for ordering an 06 truck?

Thanks

John

UMMM you may have already missed it. Im kind of new here too,But my girl friend sells cars and trucks for military sales. Anyway she was saying Dodge is going to stop taking orders very soon, now this may be only for the military, but i would check very soon,ASAP!if you really want an 06.

Thanks for the reply. Your girlfriend is right. I finally got a straight answer from a dealer and they said first week in May is the cutoff. Looks like I will order just in time.

Welcome to TDR John. Why not wait for the 07 and order it as soon as they are available. The resale value will be better and maybe DC will make some good changes.

I considered that Grizzly but I don't want the extra emissions equipment. Plus right now I can get everything I want and stay in my price range.

April 27th is the cutoff for orders from Dodge. I ordered mine through Military sales, and was told that they would prefer to get the orders in and processed so they can make the 27 april cutoff date. I ordered mine last week and I am still waiting to hear whether or not the order was accepted by Dodge.

I also ordered the 06 instead of the 07 because I didn't want the new emissions crap on my truck, and the 5. 9L engine, and the 48RE transmission is a proven combo. I don't like the idea of being a test subject for a first year change. I am sure it will be a great truck, but I like sticking with old faithful. If for some reason you can't get your order in, you can still get what is available in stock, so you would have to look around a little harder.

I went by 2 dealers tonight (San Diego area). One is going to get back to me tomorrow on the order cutoff. The other one said May 12th. I'll post the other one when I get it.

Since the new regulations don't go into effect until Jan 1, 2007, will the early 2007's have all the regulatory crap on them? Or will that only take place on trucks built 1/1 and after? It would be cool if you could get an 07 w/out all the stuff.

Since I posted this I've had 2 dealers say May 1st deadline. Better hurry if you want a 2006.

My order was accepted by the Dodge, so looks like my truck order made the cutoff. I was super happy to hear it, I am taking delivery of my truck on September 20th. I can't wait. I got a killer deal on it, so overall I am happy. First time Cummins owner, and first time Diesel truck owner as well. I can't wait to play with this thing. I already have stuff on order for it, so when I get home in September I will have the truck and a whole slew of parts waiting. :)

Whew got my order in. Great deal and exactly the truck I want. Now to just sit back and try to relax. I dont even want a tracking number because I would check it every 15 minutes. :-laf

I had my order submitted officially 3 days ago. I received an email today with my factory order number, and my VIN#. I was amazed at how fast they got the order in and submitted, and even more amazed that I have a VIN# already. Kind of sucks, because I am not taking delivery of the truck until September when I am home from Iraq, so I guess it will sit in some kind of storage facility until the time comes to deliver it.

Either way I am stoked.

Wow. That IS fast to get a VIN. My guy told me a couple of weeks. Maybe they are slower than we think or they are just trying to get the pipeline cleared out for the changeover. He said 6 weeks to delivery, but he had seen them in 5.

Thanks, but I will pass that on to a soldier. I am a Department of Defense civilian Contractor, so I am not out there in "stuff". I thank those guys every chance I get. I was in many years ago, but not anymore.

Wow truck was ordered on 19th of April and it got in to the dealer today. I wasnt expecting it so soon but I pick it up next saturday. Anyone else who ordered around then you might want to check on its status.
