Hi all,

Just found TDR and loved it and I signed up right away, lots of very good advice given here.

The details just picked up my 03 2500 4x4 Laramie 2 weeks ago and love it, it is my first diesel. Traded in my 02 1500 5. 9 Sport to get it and got a fair deal on both the trade and the 03.

I reside in CA so according to the information I have read here that would be the only down fall with my new rig.

Anyway over the weekend went to Arizona from California and was very impressed with my new ride. The only thing I was a little disappointed with was with the mileage which averaged 14mph, (as stated by the computer), but I was averaging 75 to 80 mph on the highway not towing. The one thing I did notice and love was the price of diesel compared to gas, I get diesel here in CA for 1. 59 a gallon as was able to buy diesel in AZ for 1. 35, got to love that.

I will be very interested to see how the rig performs at the end of the month when I hook up my 24 foot Fourwinns and take off for Lake Mohave.

Looking forward to all of the great discussions and will chip in my . 02 cents when appropriate.

Your milage will improve as you break it in. The computer is not to be relied upon for an honest number, doing it the old fashioned way at the pump is still required if you want to know what your really getting. Your economy will decrease quite a bit as that speedo climbs so keeping your foot a little lighter will help although I know that can be tough on some stretches of road. Welcome aboard.

welcome... . and you think you are grinning now??... wait till you gets some miles on it!!!... I just broke the 19 mpg mark(19. 2non computer figured)... . in a DUALLY!!! 4400 miles on it!... oh and you will grin even more once you put some weight on its back!!!... I haul a 33foot fifth wheel with my 3000lb jeep inside for a total trailer weight of 14. 5!... it pulls beautifully!!!

Welcome. I am new here too and I am in the same "boat" as you. I am in CA and I just bought my 2003 about 2 months ago. I have about 2500 miles on it right now and love it.

This is an awsome site. I have learned a lot already and I am still learning.

As far as the mileage, mine is averaging about 17. 5 in "combo" city/highway driving per the computer. A hair over 16 doing it "the old fashioned way".

Fireman,

"BaaRamU" came from the movie "Babe" (The pig movie, from a couple of years ago) It just has a certain ring to it and by no means is it meant to be negative, after all this is my 3rd Dodge .

Thanks to the others for the very kind welcome.
