I just purchased my new dodge(2700 miles ago) and traded off my 94 f-350 4x4 7. 3 4. 10 cc. I just have a few oberservations on my new purchase. Things I like: the Cummins Sound & Power, the 6 sp,the ability to see the engine, nice interior, and the style. Things I dislike: Cheap paint and rock chips after <800miles without boards and flaps, lack of my crew cab, and no cab clearance lights... yet! Things I have added or removed: boards, mudflaps, gooseneck hitch, trailer wiring, brake control, geno's heavy duty oil plug, keyless entry, and removed the oil pill box relocating hose to underneath the windshield washer tank (more to come). Great pickup so far, no brake problems with 4 discs and have the good steering box! Jury is still out on the rearend ratio wishing for 3. 73. Glad to be onboard, thanks for all the excellent information.

tmpenner,
Welcome to the club and the site. Glad you like the change over and not have problems that other new Dodge owners are having.
Good Luck with your Dodge/Diesel! #ad

Hey Tmpenner nice truck upgrade. The 3. 73 ratio would be a nice compromise but I've not had a problem with the 3. 54's. Do you ever get concerned about a rear tire blowout when hauling horses?

SSJL,

I've not yet had any trouble with blowouts with the single rear wheels. My former puller was also a SRW. We have been pulling an 8x20 stock trailer with upto 8 horses with no problems as long as we keep heavy duty tires on the truck. Any larger trailer, I would have bought a 3500. But then I would have to modify my garage to fit the hips in!

I think you will like the 3-55. Plenty of power with the cummins and good fuel mileage with the 3. 55. Enjoy!

tmpenner, I agree, just got my truck monday, and love everything but the paint. lots of orange peel, but not really any worse than a lot of dodges that i have seen, just not as nice as it should be. Hey if you want a real kick, put an EZ on that bad boy, i put mine on yesterday, you will not believe you are in the same truck.
