Wanted to say Hi to every body, been reading for about a year tons of good info here. My truck even when stock has been hard to start when cold. It is on it second lift pump 51000
pump is with in spec. If I bump the starter before the wait to start light the pump starts then wait for the light to go out the truck starts. Does the ECM control the lift pump?

Bow,
I just started to have a starting problem with my truck. It does it all of the time thoough. I dunno if yours does or not. I checked things out and found that I have a leaky fuel return line. Right off the injector pump on the banjo fitting it leaks. Because of this leak it drains the injector pump and takes a while to start. I have also heard of these lines cracking in the same location. I could see mine dripping fuel from the return line between the filter and injector pump. I took off the line and found the leak. If you can smell or see fuel this could be your problem. I'm going to have mine resoldered as it leaks on the joint. If that doesn't work it'll cost $70 for a new 16" line... rediculous.

CumminsAholic,

If the repair on the fuel line doesn't work out try to get one from a Cummins distributor. You should be able to do better than $70.
