I used to be a lifeguard in SoCal, at the time we had mainly Nissan Pathfinders and Nissan Hardbodies. In those, we had wider tires and would deflate then a bit to run on the sand. It worked great.

We did however have a Chevy 3500 dually with stock tires. It would tend to be harder to get through the sand as the tires were skinnier and it wouldn't "float" as well on the sand. I think that if you could get larger on the fronts, it would be okay on the sand. I realize that you can't go much larger on the rears without tire rub and heat build up unless you space the rims out.

I am running 295/70 17 with a spacer I only have about a 1/2 inch between tires. Do your nittos squat under heavy weight, my trailer has about a 3300 pin weight. I do not want them rubbing while towing. I was thinking about some super swampers.

Hey RRicketson: No not at all. Funny you ask because I had 4 thousand pounds in the back of the truck last week end. Two full size pallets of tile. The people at Home Depot were amazed that it did not even phase the truck or tires. they were all impressed. There are people out there that claim their junk, but in my opinion I have had nothing but good luck with them. Very affordable too. Just make sure you stick with the E rated tires. I had pretty poor luck with the D rated.
