OK, what is a 3500 with rear wheel drive?

user test

Hi All,

Finally got my membership and I am tottally amazed at this site. Great rigs and great people.

Here is my first question: What is the maximum size tire and rim I can put on my truck??? See my profile for info on the truck.

I am looking for good looks and at least 35" if they will fit.

From what I understand, is that if I put 35" tires on my 4:10 gears the truck will act like 3:54's and my mileage will go up etc.

I do realize that other things happen, loads on transmission etc...

REALLY like the Nitto Grapplers... . Any one using them?

Thanks for the help and hope to meet some great people.

First of all, welcome aboard!

I have the Nitto Terra Grapplers and like them. I have 295/75/R16's. They rub slightly in extreme turns, so I don't think you can go any taller without some kind of lift. Good luck with your choice and once again, welcome.

I have approx. 35's: Pro Comps 315/75r-16 AT's. Required a 2" spacer lift in front only. Truck looks more level and does not sag when towing heavy load. I calculated my gear reduction from 4:10 to 3:69. My fuel mileage decreased very slightly (17-17. 5 mpg) from 18. Probably due to added weight and increased friction surface area. Also Speedometer/odometer is off, actual speed is 1/10th higher than display= 60 is really 66, 70 is 77, etc. I have noted no ABS or computer problems with this modification. However, there are means to recalibrate your speedo. Enjoy you modifications!

TOYO's

I just purchased a set of Toyo Open Country 305/70/16 with the E load rating. I have the 2" lifting springs and huskyliner mud flaps. No rubbing, whatsoever. I was also looking at the Pro-Comp AT's but for $200 more dollars I got the peace of mind with the 10 ply radials. The also have a 50K warranty and a very nice looking tread design with minimal increase in road noise.
