I AM A NEW MEMBER TO TDR, BUT NOT TO CUMMINS OR DODGE, I HAVE A 2001 3500 4X4 5 SPD, 3. 55. I WAS WONDERING IF YOU GUYS CAN HELP CHOOSE THE RIGHT BOMBS

Although I didnt go in this order,
1)guages,fuel psi,pyrometer,boost.
2)exhaust brake.
3) 4" turbo to tailpipe.
4)edge EZ box.

Thats for the motor. Now for the truck.

1)Good mud flaps on the back to protect your paint.
2)Running boards (full length) to protect your paint, and to assist getting in truck.
3)Toolbox/aux fuel tank. to take advantage of cheaper fuel prices when available,as well as extended capacity for towing.

Everyone has diferent uses for their RAM but this is my choices.
Kevin

I guess it depends on what you do with your truck, for me I started by taking the muffler and resinator off and just running a straight pipe, and then I added a Van Aakens box,but gauges should be added first, and then some DD1 injectors and boost module, great combo for towing and pretty good mileage also.
Made a big difference #ad

Well thanks for the suggestions, to answer your ?, I haul alot of weight, on up to 20,000+ lbs. I had straight piped my 98 12 valve, and am planning on doing the same with this truck. I had also turned the fuel up to the 98, I just want to be sure with this 2001.

Get gauges FIRST. At the minimum egt and boost. You might want to also consider a fuel pressure gauge mounted pre-filter to keep an eye on the lift pump pressure (mine was going south quick with only 3200 miles on the truck). Being that you are going to BOMB, place the thermocouple for the egt. gauge pre-turbo, in the exhast manifold. After the gauges are in and you have a baseline on your new truck, I would suggest the Edge EZ box. I don't think you'll have a problem while towing with the EZ alone, but if you do the Pyscotty air system will help to lower them to the tune of about 150F. If you add any other power mods. such as injectors or a heavy fueling box, I think you will be saving for a clutch, especially since that you tow.

I agree with Big Saint. Get the guages first - minimum EGT and boost. Be sure to get a baseline with the gauges in stock trim. Then I would add a K&N Filter and next the Edge EZ. You need to turn up the boost. Your 01 has the hardlined wastegate - Edge can tell you what you need to do to more boost - a lot of people use a turnbuckle to disable the wastegate actuator but there are other ways. After the Edge, as if you're not broke enough, add a good 4" exhaust to help keep the EGTs down. I tow a 38' race car hauler all over the place and this combo seems to work well for me.

Used to vacation with family down in Vero years ago - probably wouldn't recognize it today - hope to make it down that way again sometime. Welcome aboard!

A short note to 'wiz1' before I give you my order of 'BOMBING':
I didn't make it to Brandon's Saturday, because I had already installed all the stuff I was going to do there, and, had another very important commitment. Anyway,wiz1, are you trying to launch your 'RAM' into the upper atmosphere? #ad
I can't wait to see your dyno numbers!
CUMMINAGAIN:My 'BOMBING' order: 'EZ', Boost Elbow,(Dyno Run);DTT ValveBody, DD2's. (Dyno Run). Last week, blow away stock, empty, PSD 4 door; Today, barely lose to BMW in a two lane merges to one lane 0-60+mph sprint where I gave him the 'thumbs up. ' However, I was loaded with my ladder rack and 20'+ 8' ladders, full tool box, and a bunch of stuff in the bed and cab, so I was not surprised, or dissappointed.

Hey folks... not only am I new to TDR but also new to Dodge, Cummins and towing so all your info is great! It would be even greater if I had half a clue what some of the things (like edge EZ box, purometer, van aakens box, boost module, DD1's, BOMB, getting a baseline) you talk about using are, what brand you use, price and where to get them. You may not want to provide me the education, but you could point me to some resources. Mine's a '99 3500 quad cab, LB, LSD, auto transmission. I tow a 30' trailer, weighs about 10K. Need more towing power and want to take real good care of the driveline.

Jim, there is a search button right by the post reply button. You can use it to search any of the terms you are not familiar with and come up with more info than you want! The TDR Links section is full of places to buy these things when you have the need. Good luck, and feel free to keep asking if you can't find info or have a question that you can't find the answer to.

Alright, JGrady. I hope you were talking about a pyrometer and not a purometer. I have no idea what a purometer is but I may have to have one #ad

Order to B-O-M-B ie. " Better off modified, B-A-B-Y-! "

DONE 1) Guages, boost Pyrometer, optional transmission temp.

DONE 2) K&N air filter in the stock air box or a scotty air system.

DONE 3) 4" exhaust turbo to tail pipe, preferably mandrel bent aluminized.

DONE BD PERFORMANCE INJECTORS 4) Then some sort of fuel enhancements,
i. e. Van AAken CPC or larger injectors, but not both at the same time
until upgrades to the torque converter and valve body on Auto's, or a
clutch on a manual

DONE DIABLO POWER PUCK 5) Depending on what you choose on #4 finish the
job with injectors or Box.

ON ORDER ... 6) High quality low stall converter, preferably 1600 rpm,
and a valve body modification to recalibrate to handle the extra power.

7) 1/2 inch fuel system to feed that hungry powerhouse, and keep that
injection pump cool and lubricated.

8) US Gear 20% Overdrive auxillary transmission so you can use all that
new found power. How's 1800 rpms at 75 mph sound?

9) A BD turbo mount exhaust brake to slow her down.
